Clear or black spray paint from Lowe's. 99 cents a can here. Never had a grip slide off or even move slightly with that stuff.
X2 on spray paint ...i use dollar general 99 cent stuff and i have no issues at all ...only thing is to clean the bars good first but then just spray a bit in the grip then twist it in place and wipe any runs ....only takes a min or 2 to dry also uyou will probably have to cut them off when its time for new ones

stock is 24 i think....i put 19 in mine but i figure ill need race gas or at least a mix when temps get back over 70 but everything i read said 21 is safe minimum for pump gas.....too many factors involved to say whats safe for your situation but i thought id share my 2 cents lol
-
ya WOT is a must if carbs are on it ....makes a difference and sounds like your plug wires are suspect at this point
-
when u check the compression how many times do you kick it ? or do you kick it till it stops rising ....when mine was stock it had 120 left and 122 right but i put a cool head on with 19 cc domes and now i get 150 psi with 4 kicks ....i usually stop there cause i cant run pump gas if its over that lol
-
Dam ya i hadnt even thought about the stator......coil or cdi might also be worth swapping from a known good bike
-
i bet a dollar its a jetting issue....just my two cents but id raise a clip or try different needle ... possibly drop a size on pilot ...alot cheaper than alternative so not out anything just to try it.....and i think all shees will spit coolant on trails if overflow tank is still in factory location
-
according to my handy dandy banshee digital tool kit 15 39 will get u 91.2 at 10000 rpms with 20 in tires.....but who the hell knows if i entered all the info right lol
-
i think stock speed is about 85 depending on ur weight and stock gearing is 14 40 or 14 41 depending on the year....and i dont know much but i always use steel sprockets they seem to hold up good for me but i weigh 350 so aluminum sprockets seem sketchy and i just like steel lol
-
just a thought but i chased something like this and it was my son not turning fuel back on on his tank lol so i check the simple stuff first
-
same here... I've never had a problem with the front brake stopping power.
idk about the rest of you but i weigh 350 and grip the hell outta the brake lever when i gotta shut her down and i could use more braking power lol and thats even with all brand new pads and fresh rebuild and bleeding them .....i guess they might just be fading quick but im definitely gonna do this mod lol...o ya and im lucky wifey has a yfz and i doubt she will notice the difference

I really don't think this is a carb issue. If you don't want to check the plug wires and caps to see if they are in spec, then check the rear tire pressure and see if that is the problem!!
ya id prolly check blinker fluid but seriously the answer is in the wires or caps PERIOD.......

Every 450 ive owned or saw did the same thing! The glow looks badass at night!
x2 on that my kfx450 looked bad assed at night lol

thank you could not have said it better myselfThis is IMHO the perfect way to attack a problem this is ignition related since it changed when you swapped plug wires. Very good advice and a systematic approach. Bravo!!!

lmao im a mechanic by trade and heres the thing with dexcool .....it softens plastics and rubber components like orings and plastic intake gaskets which btw is a stupid design anyway second the waterpump bearings on cars are sealed and do not have water on them unless a seal has failed anyway at which point pump failure is coming soon. now im new to banshees so not sure what kind of damage it might do but from a mechanical point i think the stock impeller is at risk as for coolhead orings .....gasket failure on a car usually occurs after 70k miles so thats thousands of hrs runtime and usualy 5 of more years .....so after that said i switched to dexcool on my shee when i put my chariot head on because on cars anyway the operating temps are lower with the dexcool by usually 20 degrees or so and also the dexcool protects aluminum better so for me anyway the benefits are well worth it .sorry for the long rambling post lol

if u have a volt meter set it to ohms and check resistance of plug wires i bet they will be different....in a wasted spark ignition if resistance to 1 plug if different than the others it can then start misfireing on the other cylender...i think it will fire the lower resstance route every time iirc .....maybe somebody who knows more than me will chime in soon for ya...also if plugs have different resistance that can affect it but i just noticed that u said u tried a different coil so now im not sure but its and easy check

right now its got 300 with stock timing but i have not ridden it yet ...last time i rode it it still had the stock 200 mains in it lol....thats y im so worried everything i read and have been told say it should be at lease 280 and some have said even higher so im scared to ride it till i get some opinions fro some of the more experienced banshee owners and tuners ....i really dont want to blow it up for sure

im starting this one because i started the other one in the wrong spot and dont know how to fix it ........ok so i got my banshee and it was stock . i have put boysen reeds in it uni foam filter with holes in lid fmf gold pipes pc2 silencers and hogged out the reed cages and ive got 165 compression in both cylinders 19cc domes in chariot head now heres the question ? ive got stock jetting and i have noticed gains with each mod and never had any bogging or overheating and 4 plug chops all looked good. i have bought jets in 290 300 and 320 but have no idea if i should go up to one of them or not ...and please be easy on me as i have searched and read a crapload about jetting its just that the quad seems to run great how it is ................also im at 1400 ft i weigh 330 and ride mostly woods and occasionally drag race my buddies also i mix 40 to 1 with caster 927 or whatever its called and pump gas
-
ill take some pictures in the next day or 2 but im going to put the bigger mains in it before i ride this weekend and see how it does thanks for suggestion and if anybody else has ideas or opinions id love to hear them... thanks again
-
is there a different way to tell if im lean besides the plug chop method .....like i said it runs or at least i think it runs like a raped ape ...only thing i have trouble beating around here is a 11 yz 450 dirtbike modded and gytr programmer on it lol

somebody yell at me if im wrong but wont the reeds flutter if the tension is too low ....ive heard you can flip them over 1 time then next time replace them but i personally think reeds are cheap insurance lol

my parking brake works just fine but anyway u have to loosen the locknut then back bolt out a ways ....several turns should be enough but also as mentioned the slides on the caliper are likely hung up and will require service. with some light torch work and penetrating oil they usually free up but u should buy a rebuild kit before you start because the rubber seals are likely gonna be fubar ....another option is to buy a new or known good caliper just depends on youre resources and skills with a wrench

yes cold air is more dense but octane is a rating for resistance to pre ignition based on combustion chamber temps before spark happens....like when u compress air it heats up ..... so i mentioned the octane because when its hotter than Hades the chance for preignition goes up alot because the entire motor and even the intake air is hotter so i might need either lower compression or higher octane ....but i could be all wet hell i don't know lol maybe somebody smarter than me can explain it better .
