Exactly was I was wondering. I can make it work but the linkage will smack the swingarm when the suspension tops out.

About 14 1/8 or around 357 mm using a racetech sag tape measure.

Swingarm is definitely oem. All the measurements of the shock just don't match what I can find online or my books. I think you are right and it was altered. Only thing that makes sense.

This sucks so bad! Did a complete engine build, Redline 4mil dune port. Started on the second kick lol. Taken almost a year to complete and now I'm stuck here.

Swingarm moves fully without the linkage. Preload adjusters unscrewed but doesn't change the shock length. Shock is too long is all I can figure. It looks stock?

If I remove the bumper it is this close with linkage against the swingarm.

I bought a 2003 that has a plus 4-inch swingarm on it. I am trying to restore it back to stock. After installing a factory swingarm the shock is about an inch too long. If I take the rubber bumper off it is close but still about 1/4 inch off. Shock and linkage look like original OEM. Shock length eye to eye is about 14 1/8 or 357 mm. Driving me crazy! Any ideas I would really appreciate it.

Mine did this same thing yesterday after a total rebuild. It turns out that I did not tighten the lock nut down enough on the clutch adjustment screw. The one in the center of the pressure plate. The nut fell off and the screw backed out.

4 mil welded hotrods , drops right in and more reliable than stock. jmo
More reliable because of the decreased rod angle of the longer rod or that the hotrods is stronger?

I am building it for a friend that does not ride very well and he will not be changing anything later. It already has a trail port with T5 pipes, more than enough power for him. Just want to give him something that will last a long time.

I have mild ported engine I am rebuilding and would like to know what crankshaft you guys recommend. OEM or Hot Rods? Bike is used for trails and I want it as reliable as possible. Thanks.

Ya new shock ordered. I appreciate all the advice. I will let you all know what I find.
