For asphalt I've been cutting OEM springs for over a decade.

Personally I think there are a lot of trail and open road quads out there that really don't need lockups but if you do and all you're looking for is to ease the lever pull to make the day's ride more comfortable go with stock springs. If you still have more pull than you care for just cut equal amount off of each spring. I use a dremel with a cut off disc.

This is for 300ft sand drags. Do you find any binding with cut springs? Not quite flat anymore after cutting.

  2. Just starting to dabble a little with clutch tuning. What springs offer less base pressure then a factory banshee spring? Would a warrior or blaster spring be less? Thinking raptor or yfz might be a little more.

    Thanks!

  4. i think this is where fine tuning your lock up clutch will pay off... if I remember right in the drag forum section.. theres a thread with very useful information on clutch set ups for best launches ect.... do a search and it should pop up

Will reread it but not sure it will help as I won't be able to get new weights in time.

  5. Hey guys. I have a 421 I go some 300ft sand drags with but also dune. For this reason I have a +8 swing arm, if only dragging I would have went longer. In one class I can use a wheely bar so it's not an issue. In another I cannot. I use a strut with the wheely bar and have lowered it where the swing arm is parallel with the ground yet it still lifts. I am thinking in this class I may need to put my 14 paddles aside and run my 10s. What are my options to help keep the front down and not impact my times as much.

    Thanks.
