  1. Hi Guys..

My mates banshee has a problem, when you ride it it makes a softish backfire sound now and then(sometimes now and then, sometimes alot, and while making the sound the bikes power is not what it should be), but the sound is way louder when you remove the seat and airbox cover, so thought it was a reed problem causing to backfire through the carbs. Took out the reeds and tested them, they leaked a bit so replaced them all. Put everything back together and tested the bike, but the same sound is still there. The bike never used to do this, just started 2 rides ago. Any ideas on whats wrong? Or what to check next?

    Thanx

This is what he said about his bike :

"My motor +4mm crank, cool head 22cc,v-force 2,mikuni tm38 mm,k&n air filter 65mm bore CDI + 1000 RPM,+4 timing plate, exhaust trinity stage IV.

My swingarm it is yfz 450 2007.

Rear shock it is cbr 600 f4.

Front shock it is yamaha r6"

  3. it could be a number of things, i would replace the plugs and clean the carbs 1st thing. is it only during idle that its different?

Will do! Br8es plugs fine? What should the plug gap be? Bit difficult to look behind me while riding so not 100% sure on that one. Will ask a mate to ride behind me and check next time we ride.

  4. is one of your slides hanging up?, carbs synced?, good spark, new plugs?

No, slides not getting stuck, checked the carbs, spark is good. Mmm oldish plugs, could that be the problem?

Bike runs perfect though, dragged 2 other banshees and a 09 can-am 450 x, and won all of them by quite a big margin, so nothing wrong with how the bike pulls.

Could it maybe be the exhaust packing? Time for new ones maybe?
