  1. Looking for advice on where to start with my new build. 421 cub, drag port, .5 3 squish, 135 lb each side, 19 CC domes, thousand foot elevation.

6in K&N pods with outerwears, Lectron 38/40 HVs, Trinity stage 4 intakes, VF4 reeds.

    R2 pipes.

Should I run 93 octane? Or add a booster?

Where should I start with timing?

Contact SRP on here. Sorry for the delay, I missed your response lol. Gary is the owner. Tell him I sent you.

If you do not hear back from him, let me know. I can let him know to check his messages.

Hey Griff, do the snipers come plated or raw?

  3. Hey all good morning, so I swapped my outer crank bearings with a TZ and Max Ball. Here is my new issue, the new bearings do not have the locator pins in the outer race that seat into the cases. Who has done this swap and run into this and what did you do to ensure the bearings stayed put? I have 2 different suggestions from friends and would love to hear what has worked for any of you so I can move on to my next unforeseen issue!

I thank you all for any input

  4. Hey all, I'm getting ready to swap my crank with a max load and tz. I have the crank in the freezer and wondering what techniques have worked best for you. How do you heat the bearings to get them off the crank and how do you heat the new bearings to get them on. Was thinking torch for bearings on crank, and oven?? for the tz and max. All suggestions will be appreciated.

My friend and I are trying our hand at flat track racing, what would be somethings to do to the shee to make it competitive?

I bought a flat track roller off my buddy and have a couple parts I could sell if interested. I think it's a -2 swing arm and a sway bar. Have American racers on rims but not sure of size right now.

A 3/4" bolt with a inch and 1/8 head that has 2 nuts locked together on it will work just as well.

Worked perfect. I welded the nut to the bolt. The 1 1/8 head is a little sloppy in there but I was able to use a ratchet so slop wasn't a problem like it may be if an impact was slapping it back and forth.

    Thanks again

It really doesn't matter if it is a single carb with dual pipes/single pipe or dual carbs with dual pipes/single pipe.

I ran all 4 setups. Just need to learn how to jet and find the combo that works best together.

What manifold does your friend plan on running? What size carb? What pipes? Any other mods?

Stock stroke, stock jugs bored to 65mm, I think a Paul Turner mx port on the jugs (something that took away the band at the top of 2nd and 3rd), and t5's. I think by manifold you are referring to what I would call the intakes? If that is the case he does not have anything yet but that is the 2 into 1 setup I'm talking about. A guy we know has the 2into1 intake and has a drawer full of carbs but not sure what size.

He just wants to build something torqy and reliable that he doesn't have to tinker with so probably a set of small carbs or 1 medium.

  9. Hey everyone, "This is for a friend"... no really it is and I have no clue on an answer for him. Will a setup work with 2 into 1 intake and 2 pipes out or does the 2 into 1 setup have to be in and out? He already has a set of pipes and a guy we know has the intake. My buddy is not a racer so we already know this is not going to be the fast set up but he wouldn't mind the torq on the hills. Like I said we are just wondering if the setup will work or if he should just go with dual carbs in a stock/close to stock size.

    Thanks all

Figured this would be my answer. I don't have stock springs due to building pc by pc. I literally started with a chassis and empty set of cases. All the springs I'm finding are HD so obviously not looking in the right place. Any suggestions?

    Thanks

  11. Hey all, a few yrs ago I built my bike pc by pc and I bought a clutch with heavy duty springs. I am rebuilding and I've got a lock up now. I want to use the lock up to do the work of the heavy springs rather than gorilla grip the clutch. What kind of springs are you runnin on a 421 to make this an easy day at the office?

    Thanks

CPI's actually do pretty well on the 421 Cubs. They'll make it come on a little sooner then the Shearers. Plus they should actually fit a little better over the Shearers.

OK so while we're at this I just read a few posts into this and found a statement about the CPI's being recommended  for the "Bigger Fellas". Would I be correct in assuming that is due to the tq numbers from CpI? Or because they come on sooner? I am about done gathering the bucket of bolts that I need to put this little lady back together and pipes are literally one of the last things I need. I would love to go with the Snipers not only for their numbers but also something not popular here in OH where I run, but price tag is is a whopper when I have the opportunity to get some barely used CPI or Shearer for half the cost.

  13. Hey all, I am putting together a 421 and looking for the best in frame pipes. I have Drag Port Cub Cyl's and runnin vp 110. I get the bike out on holiday weekends and run 300 ft and will take it on any dune trips I may do. So obviously looking for the best pipe for my trailer queen. I have a good idea of what I'm interested in (Shearer), but always like to hear other intelligent opinions. On a side note, I have an unhealthy obsession for a set of "Rockets" is that justified?
