  1. sync tools help but I do mine by eye

The slide in the carbs should need to slide evenly through out the increase in the throttle....you just dont want one side opening more than other or vice versa

when u hold the throttle and release it you shuld hear one solid sound...if you hear two thuds they are out of sync.......that would be the sound of each slide hittin at separate times....

one of the guys here should know what the sync tool should register at.....

    ok cool thanks

  2.

A filter is NOT a filter... You change your air filter out for more reasons than just convenience. :shootself:

As anyone with half a brain, and has ever seen a wrench before, knows... on an internal combustion engine, air+fuel+compression=boom. The more air you can flow through the carbs, the more fuel you can suck in. The more fuel and air = more boom. So... running pods, or the pro-flow setup, will INDEED increase power, regardless of what this guy says. HOWEVER, you have to be able to get that exhaust out of there, as fast as possible. That is where the right intake/pipe combination becomes crucial.

If you only ride in sand, or dry areas, a lot of people prefer to run pods. I run pods myself, and only ride at Glamis. If you ride near water, mud, or snow, run an airbox with the pro-flow adapter, and a k&n, or foam type, with a pre-filter. One of those setups, along with removing the air box lid, is probably the most common intake mod on the banshees.

hey thanks alot see right now i have the stock setup snorkel removed and 12 vents in the box so i know if i take the lid off ill have to re jet and dont think its best for the engine cuz i would let in to much dirt right?

  3. a filter is a filter. pods make getting too the carbs way easier but as long as it keeps the dirt out. no real power gain with other setups.

hey thanks alot but what do u think about the pro flow kit is it better then the stock setup ? does any 1 have this and is it easy to install?

  4. rick --please call em wiyth the location of thatb place to ride in north haven thanks robert 203-500-2079

hey rob i was there yesterday and it is centerbrook plaza go up the street take 1st left go all the way to the end and turn right theres a circle turn around but u should park in the woods ull see a curb with a trail just follow it in ull see ppl parked in side

  5. I run a RK chain and will never put a different chain on it. I have the gold chain and it doesnt stretch at all. I had problems with chains stretching and they would stretch so much I couldnt tighten it anymore and I would still have 2" of free play. When I put the RK chain on all the problems went away. U got a good chain and I would thank whoever put it on there.

oh nice that makes me happy so these chains will never stretch?thats my bigest concern but id like it to hold up to for a while so i guess i made out then huh?

  6. TO properly check the fluid level the dipstick is supposed to sit ON TOP of the threads per the genuine Yamaha shop manual and also the owners manual that came with the brand new 89 and 96 models I bought. Also, it actually takes about 1.8 quarts to fill the transmision. The oil does not have to be warm or hot but it does help it drain out faster and better. I usually warm up the tranny and pull the plug out of the transmission and let it sit overnight to drain out completely.

ok cool thanks alot so now when u check the level does it have to be warm or does it matter??

  7. It takes 1.5 litres, orr a quart and a half. thats what the 1500cm3 stands for. and doesnt matter if its cold or hot. And yaa you should put the dip stick back in lol.

ok thanks bro lol and i know the dip stick goes back in im asking when u check the level do u have to screw it in or just put it in??

  8. Ive had my banshee apart for about 3 monthes, because it was totaled when i got it, and after doing just about everything to it, although it still needs some things here and there, i got to ride it. its really hard to start cold, and this is with stock jetting on a stock motor, although it does have a Rick's hot shot cdi box, but once its warm, it starts easily. also i know it should be more powerful, it has a fare amount of top end, but it isnt very ballsy or that fast, what could be causing this, thanks.

well i would guess time to rebulid ur topend if its that hard to start u need pistons then just replace ur plugs make sure ur getting goood spark to
