  1. Putting new pistons and rings in my 421. Forget the formula for ring end gap. Also, anyone open up the bottom ring more, or is that a 4 stroke thing?? I read briefly about that.

I belive the ring gap formula goes like this. .003-.004 per inch of bore.......68mm bore converted to inches.....68/25.4=2.677.......so in inches your 68mm bore is 2.677"X.003-.004=0.010708 almost .011. Some one correct me if im wrong........................

  2. I offered him 750 and he accepted it. I am going to pick it up tomorrow. Just by kicking the bike over I can tell it has low compression. It has pipes on it and the kid doesnt know if it has been jetted for them or not. He also had to replace the slides because the previous owner messed them up. It sounds like its been owned by atleast 2 people that dont know how to tune a 2 stroke. The only thing that makes me nervous is that I cant really ride it to see how it shifts. Are the bottom ends of these known to be pretty reliable. Do they use a counter balancer? The price seems right anyways.

I bang the shit out of my tranny....never had a prob yet. I just make sure i change the fluid on a consistent basis. No counter balancer just main shaft and counter shaft.......

  3. I am looking at buying a 95 banshee. I am new to them but not to 2 strokes. The one I am looking at seems to have very little compression and is hard to start. when you do get it started it only runs on one cylinder and back fires alot. To me that seems like a new topend would probably take care of it. I was just wondering if there are some common problems I should know about before I dive into this head first. I can get this bike pretty cheap, and if it is just a topend I will come out good. Just looking for any advice anyone would be willing to offer.

If its the cylinder that does not fire that has low compression then prob need a new tip end. My bike was not firing on one cylinder but when i had my buddy switch the throttle cable he had a little mix up with the carb cap with an extra set laying around the shop. The needle was a notch or two higher and was washing out the spark......but yea if you pick it up i would start with the carbs and spark. Its only three key factors with a two stroke.

  4. Trash the tors, get the kit. Eventually the tors WILL give you problems. Very simple to install, itll also give you plenty of space right above your carbs,
maybe enough for a NOS bottle

I would never put a nos bottle there. Even with the tors kit its not that fun moving around in there let alone with a 2.5lb bottle in ur way.....but any way def get the get the kit, tors are garbage!

  5. im sure you gotta do a light hone but you should be able to rering it. im sure someone else who knows for a fact will chime in

I had to get a new top end.....bought some stock bore cylinders and they came with the wiseco pistons. Just honed them and threw some new rings on... Runs Great!!!!!!!! I could't believe the price just for the rings. It was like 30 bucks a side.

On the other side i herd replacing the top end every 25 hrs of racing????? True or not idk????

  6. I tell you what your problem is.....Your a faget!

Don't put marvin shaw down cause you think there shock blew out or a leak in the line etc. How about you call them first and explain to them what your retarded fucking ass question is.

When you do please send me the convo you had with Tim or Becky.

Railroad tracks, shit i need to stop reading your dumb shit

Hold the button asshole! Where the fuck do you see me bashing on marvin shaw shocks? If i thought they were garbage i would of never put them on my quad. Learn how to fucking read douchebag!

  7. If the cylinders are not scarred or nicked up, leave it go. I would get a hone on them though to be safe.

Crank will be fine. If it hasn't been done before, most likely is stock bore.

Get a top end rebuild kit, I like Wiseco forged pistons... it will come with everything you need to build her back up

everything but the seal kit!!!!!!! Highly recommend it.

  8. my bad i thought they were hillshooters judging by how low your front end looks in ur avatar i musta missed the rezzie part. sorry didnt mean to be a dick

They are yfz 450 a arms so they are like +2+1

  9. Well i replaced my 450r shocks with some remote rezzie marvin shaws. I was hitting some jumps at our local railroad tracks and when i came down it blew the back of the canister of the rezzie off!!!!!! Holy shit. It felt like I got shot in my shin!!!!! Any ways my buddy noticed a tiny little kink in the line. Would that little kink not allow the shock oil to go back in to the shock? If so is that why the canister blew apart because it was filling up with to much oil and then it finally blew the back of the canister off? There is a piston in the canister.

  10. Looking to off these for some cash. 250.00 shipped In great shape! Pics avil. upon request!

Sorry guys didt see the rules......Im located in memphis, mi............and i will go take a pic now!

any offers? Just seen a pair go on ebay for over 300??????? Might go that route soon!

  11. you are correct, but mine is an old ass worn out one, and I still beat up on the newer ones.

I just took the clutch out the other day, and it was the stock 20YO clutch, still had brittle O-rings in it and the basket was so loose on the drive gear it would move almost an inch in either direction, and still beat up on the 05's

    dunno, go figgure.

Thats fucked up......something is wrong with your buddys shit! LOL

  12. cast pistons are junk!!! i have seen too many break off the skirts.. a good set of wiseco's is the way to go..

Will never buy anything else again. Brand new numaria set lasted 3 days......... I could see like a melted ring or something similar but whats with all the shattering going. I under stand that cast pistons are brittle and that why they shatter but this was something crazy. I broke the piston completely off right below the wrist pin.......

  13. breaking the sleeve and such are not typical of a lean condition (running out of fuel). Detonation, melted pistons, welded rings, etc, are common. It is possible if stock pistons were used that they shattered with violent detonation but forged pistons are much more ductile.

    B

Stock pistons were not used. But they were numaria cast pistons. Not fucking around. Getting a +4 stroker with vitos big bore kit!
