Looks like it may have been hydro locked at some point.. definitely looks bent in the pic.. I check it out a little more before running it..jmo

Are you looking at the frame or the cases? The FRAME vin is on the lower frame rail on the left side underneath the stator.
-
Most likely needs a new head gasket then. I would assume its seeping from the head studs
-
Stock head or billet head?
If it a billet head pull it off and check the orings. When reinstalling use copper washers and acorn nuts, put a little 1211, 1184 or yamabond in the acorn nut before you put them on.

I won't install them, but just curious as-to the history of these little buggers... and how the fugg did I have 2 in there?30 years ago someone thought they were needed. They are not. Right in the trash is where they go.
They ARE needed if you want to "shock the clutch"... but.. that's just a "hairflip"...

Yea so they make their own stinger tubes and silencers for T5 pipes is what I get out of it!
And honestly it looks like Toomey silencers also. Not sure on the stingers but those are probably toomey also.

You can. LA Sleeve will have parts. ESR, NIX and Pro X are all the same LA Sleeve cyl
-
They take a ton of port work to run well but the do run decent once worked over. Are they going to out perform your serval, no probably not. But not a bad cyl by no means, better than stock for sure.
-
Can you get a pic?
-
If it is rectangular than it is probably an LA Sleeve cyl they used 250r reeds also
-
Cheetah.. they use a 250r Reed cage

Sounds to me that you are missing one of the big space washers either behind the basket or in front of it. There should be one in both places

Wonder how something like this would do

That would actually probably work really well.. looks basically like the FMF 2stroke packing

36mm diameter seems pretty small that's only like 1 1/2"

Does it run? Maybe its a PVL off a single cylinder engine of some sort that someone tried to jerry-rig into a banshee. Or maybe they had a coil failure and removed the bad one and forgot about it?
Both cylinders fire spark at the same time, maybe they are running both off the one pickup coil.
There is nothing with that ignition that resembles a PVL except to the flywheel and it's not the same either. The pick up is nothing even close to a PVL

PVL Ignition. Usually on drag bikes from what I've seen.
Not a pvl.. it would have 2 pickups and 2 coils. The flywheel looks similar to a pvl.

Have you blown out the holes? Stock bolts are a little shorter and will get dirt behind them. Also do you have the rubber gasket on the cover?

Look at your plugs they will tell you everything you need to know. Going from 32:1 to 40:1 is going to make it run a richer AFR
