  1. Just curious, how much is it to ship a set of jugs back and forth? What about a whole motor?

i shipped a banshee motor couple of months ago , from N.Y, to california and i was 90 bucks , bought a cheap foam cooler , .cardboard around that . fit was perfect , fed ex is way cheaper then ups , for smaller items you cant beat the US post office .

  2. i am going to side with the government on this one , they are trying to keep lead out of young kids hands , i dont blame them . lead fucks kids up . i know that kids cant get lead poisoning from the bikes engine cases but where do they start bending the law "certain types of toys should be allowed ?" fuck no , if anything a kid touches has lead in it then its against the law .

i blame the manufactures , they can make them without lead but it probably cost more , they didnt think the law would effect them and they got burnt when it did .

for all you guys that think this is a big conspiracy by the government to hold people down by not letting kids ride , you are just plain out fucking crazy . you probably also believe in bigfoot and UFO's and shit like that .

i was at the local dealership today and yamaha is still selling 50's , hondas and eton were not beeing sold though . they told me honda and eton told they to take them off the floor but yamaha told them to keep on selling them and not to worry .

the dealer alao told me that honda told them that the mini's will be back very soon .

  3. i had a 87 back in the day , wasnt a bad quad , they had problems with the frames cracking and they handled like shit but other than that they were good quads . rm 250 motor .

i think its worth 700 if it runs good but try to get it cheaper .

  4. The only thing that change on the Banshee over the years was:

    87-89 J arm frames

    89-present A arm frames

wiring changes from switching voltage to component / switching voltage to ground

    gearing changes 13/42 (87), 13/40 (88), 14/41 (89-xx)

I think that other then this not much has changed. In buying anything used you should look at everything unless your intent is to rebuild the entire thing. Ask about the bore size. I would make it sound like I was looking for something with a big bore so the person selling it wouldn't be afraid to be honest about how big it really is. Standard bore size is 64mm. 0.010" is equal to 0.25mm and I wouldn't bore over 0.080" although I think they make pistons for 0.100" over. Bore is the life of your motor. Bigger isn't better. Check frame structure, bearings, overall conditions. Appearance is usually (not always) a sign of maintenance also.

40 hours on a rebuild? Wow, I spend that much each trip out! With proper maintenance, the right fuel, and good quality lubricants I think you could easily get 500 hours out of a top end, like the other guy said.

    87-90 was j arm , 91 - present a arm , just to let you know .
