  1. Hey guys. I have been interested in buying wrecked ATV's, dirtbikes, roadbikes, snowmobiles, etc. for awhile now. I would then just part them out and sell the parts.

     

    Anyways, the only thing that has been holding me back, is the fact that I don't know where I could buy these things dirt cheap. I was wondering if insurance auctions would be the way to go or something? or is there a better way? I don't even know where to find insurance auctions :(

  2. it is definetly 98 octane im running

    im from australia and 98 is pump gas

     

    Why does everyone seem to worry so much about using high octane? I use 18cc domes and I'm like 1,000 feet above sea (I think). I had like 155 PSI or so when I tested it. I only use 93 octane and my banshee runs great. Never any pinging or anything out of the ordinary.

  3. I was just wondering if banshee and raptor shocks are inter-changeable?

     

    I have a friend with a 2001 banshee, which has a broken front shock. I happen to have a 2003 Raptor 660 which I just put new front shocks on. I now have a spare raptor front shock which I'm going to give him. I would have had 2, but I actually had to ruin one of the shocks to get it off since the shock bolt was seized.

     

    Anyways, is the front shock from a 2003 raptor 660 the same as a front shock on a banshee?? Is it ok to have an OEM front shock on one side of the banshee, and the OEM front shock from the raptor 660 on the other side? Our only option is to mix and match them unfortunetely.

  5. Hopefully I don't get hollered at for posting about a Raptor in this forum, but I'm curious :)

     

    Anyways, I have now ridden the YFZ 450, TRX 450, Predator 500, and Raptor 660, but not the new Raptor 700R.

     

    Anyone here know much about the raptor 700? I know the 660 is a freaking joke. No power, slower than death; my banshee smoked that thing even when the banshee was still stock! Also, the YFZ 450 and TRX are both way faster with alot more power, as is the predator 500.

     

    If anyone is curious, as far as power and speed, I would prolly rate the 4 stroke 4 wheelers like this, from best to crappiest:

     

    Predator 500 (no low end and not much mid-range, but MAJOR top end power - Great for drag racing)

     

    - YFZ 450 (great power EVERYWHERE; prolly smokes any other 4 stoke on a track. Lost to my banshee with pipes & clamp on K&N's every single time in multiple pavement drags. the YFZ had a pipe too.)

     

    - TRX 450 (Insane low end power, good mid and top end power, but not as good as the YFZ. This has so much low-end that I don't think the engine even knows it when you let the clutch out)

     

    - Raptor 660 (sounds like a fart when running. Decent torque, but very crappy acceleration & power curve. Not even comparible to the YFZ/TRX/Predator)

     

    So did yamaha do a good job with the raptor 700? or is it junk like the raptor 660?

     

    Any thoughts on this would be greatly appreciated.

  6. I have a Banshee with PC pipes/silencers, clamp on K&N's, and a noss head w/18 cc domes.

     

    I also now have an 06 predator 500 (had to repo it from a friend I bought it for that never friggin paid for it).

     

    Anyways, I was just wondering if you guys can ride a wheelie for a couple hundred yards on a banshee using only 2 or 3 gears? I can go pretty far if I use like 4 or 5 gears in the same wheelie, but it usually takes me quite a few tries (unless I'm on pavement).

     

    I'm just curious because I can ride a straight-up balance point wheelie on the predator for literally 200 yards! I can wheelie it all the way across my friend's feild almost every try. The balance point on that thing is insanely good, its like theres something just holding it right in place once its straight up enough. And I can sit there and do that in one friggin gear (usually 2nd or 3rd).

     

    Is it possible to balance a banshee like that?

  7. I love my noss head. Easy install. I use the 18cc domes, and I'm at about 1000 foot elevation. I get 160 PSI for the compression, and it runs fine on 91 or 93. Definitely gave my banshee more low end power, and maybe even a bit more mid range. Didn't really affect top end.

     

    If I was you I would try 18cc domes, maybe even 17cc. Just use race gas if you have to. Thats my opinion. But you may not even have to.

     

    I didn't have to rejet when I put the new head on.

  8. 2001 banshee with t-5s dynojet kit with 280 main. should i get dual clamp ons  or i was told I could run a k&n air filter with the k&n airbox lid or what? I just want the best product that will ghive me the best performance? Thanks

    K&N clamp on filters without a doubt. Then try 330 mains. I'd also recommend going to size 30 pilots.

     

    Also, you can buy a couple of K&N "prechargers" to slip over your clamp on fiters; they keep globs of mud from getting on your actual filter, and they add NO restriction whatsoever. They are almost like a really fine netting. They are kinda pricey though (about $20 a peice, so it will run $40)

     

    Just take out the stock airbox completely. You will have to buy a bracket from www.rockeymountainatv.com for $15 though, which will hold your reserve antifreeze tank (which normally would mount to your airbox). Don't worry though, its a really simple install. We are talking 2 bolts, and you use the same bolts that are already on it :)

     

    Good luck. Thank me later. It will have alot more power after doing this, trust me.

  9. yo u have been misinformed , a rd400 is alot different i n the fact the engine is air cooled,igniton is different, the crank uses longer 115mm rods, it  also is a huge +8 millimeter stroke compared to your banshee crank ,in other words its not gonan fit with out case  trenching ,your port layout on your she jugs wil l not work eve n remotely close without major modification ,your pistons wont work  either nor the head  unless these things are all modifed . you wil l  surely need way more than yo u thought  :blink:

  10. I've done alot of searching here about the whole 2into1 carb setup. It really sounds like its a good thing.

     

    My question is this: I'm aware that it gives it alot more lowend, but takes away from top end. Does this mean that it will have more torque, and accelerate faster than a 2in1 carb banshee? Basically, if you drag race, does it pull ahead all the way until it comes down to top speed time? IE: will it win in the shorter drag race's?

     

    Also, is it easier to wheelie with the 2in1, or with 2 carbs?

     

    Lastly, how many MPH do you think it takes away on top speed going from 2 carbs to just one?

  11. Hey guys. I just found out why putting an RD 400 crank in a banshee is such a great thing. It apears that all you have to do is get a different ignition system, along with new pistons, when you put the RD 400 crank in.

     

    The RD 400 engine is the same exact engine as the banshee, other than the fact that it is 50 cc's bigger, and has an older ignition system. This makes putting in an RD 400 crank ALOT cheaper than buying an aftermarket one.

     

    I already have an RD 400 crank; I bought one on ebay for like $35 ($60 after shipping). Now I just need the newer ignition system.

  12. loctite eats the plastic causing the screws to fall out trust me on this it cost me alot of money to fix my cub motor, if you are gonna put somthing on there use yamabond or somthing of that nature, dont use loctite!!!! I went to the vf3's cause of no screws to worrie about runs great

  13. I know a guy that used to have a banshee that was pretty decked out. His best mod was when he took a crank from an old yamaha RD 400 (road bike), and threw it in his banshee. The thing could pull the front tires up in 6th gear after doing this. The only downfall was that he had to buy a $700 ignition system for it, since the stock flywheel wouldn't fit anymore, and the ignition system in the old RD400 was junk (it was points)

     

    My question is this: is there any aftermarket cranks that you can buy that would even compare to the long stroke of the RD 400 crank? And if so, can you use your stock ignition system with them? And do they make a monstrous difference power-wise, like with the RD 400 crank?

    I was just wondering how much of a boost aftermarket reeds (V force most likely) would give it? Would it even be worth the $300 or whatever? Would I ever notice much of a difference? and if so, where would I notice a difference?

  15. when i first kick it ,it starts then dies kick it again starts then dies if i give it gas it bogs then dies,once i kick it  and let start and die about 4or5 times it runs great ,starts first kick all day.why would it do this?

    are you leaving it on atleast half choke once its running? If not, then it will just keep dying when its cold out....

  16. does anybody have some pictures of a stretched out drag banshee with a crotch rocket engine in it?  ive been wanting to go with a triple but someone said u could get a street bike engine cheaper, and they were right there are hayabusa complete engines going for 2500 to 3000 on ebay.  there would be some frame mods but it would be evil when its complete. :evil:

    I wouldn't mind having a banshee with a yamaha R1 motor in it. Does anyone actually do this? I would think you could gear it up so it would do like 250 :)

  17. Hey again guys. I bought noss machine heads wth 18cc domes. I'm gonna run 104 octane fuel if need be (I'm about 1000 feet above sea level).

     

    My questions is this: I already have PC pipes & silencers, along with K&N clamp on filters (no airbox). I am currently running 30 pilots & 330 mains, and it is working well so far.

     

    Do I need to rejet when I put on my new noss machine head & 18cc domes? becuase right now its running the stock head, stock compression (about 120 PSI). Will I have to rejet with the added compression? And if so, what is a good place to start?

  18. i dont kno anything about them coming seperate thought it came as a package with everything u need. U shouldnt have a clearance issue with the 17 cc domes but theres no way ur gonna be able to run 93 oct. on them gonna have to go up to around 110. The Noss head along with many other aftermarket heads dont really give Hp just better cooling which promotes longer engine life, also gives more compression and just plain looks sick. I dont kno about the whole gasket issue im pretty sure u need to run one and the o- rings just seal around the studs.  Correct me if im wrong.

    Looks like the state I am in (VT) is about 1000 FT above sea level. Does this mean I can get away with using like 18cc domes with 93 octane pump gas? :)

  19. I am interested in getting some NOSS heads for my banshee. I do as usual, have a few questions though : )

     

    First of all, if I buy the noss head for 195 bucks off of the nossmachine.com website, does it come with everything but the domes? cuase it said something about you have to buy the "shell" seperately. Does that mean I have to buy the orings along with the domes? or does it atleast come with those?

     

    Next question: if I bought the highest compression domes (17cc), would there be any clearance problems? My banshee is all stock except for PC pipes/silencers and K&N clamp on filters.

     

    Also, does I even need a head gasket? or is that what the orings are for?

     

    I beleive I'm about sea level. I use 93 (premium) pump gas. Is it even going to work for me using 17cc domes? Doesn't the highest compression yeild the most power???

     

    Lastly, how much more power do the heads & high compression domes give VS the stock head? Is it as big of a boost as my PC pipes & K&N clamp on pod filters?
