  1. I received your message but wasn't able to respond to it for some reason.

I don't have a donor shock if i understand whayt your asking.

The rebuild cost depends on the type of riding you do. Rebuilds start at $400.

Your guy locally probably won't be successful in rebuilding a Banshee shock. They aren't the same as others and there is a special technic used to take them apart.

The front shocks on a Banshee aren't rebuildable.

  2. Just wondering if there's any special way to remove the rear spring and replace with new one? Any tips would be appreciated, gonna do it tonight.

Be very careful because you can be easily injured by the spring if you don't know what your doing and don't have the right tools. If there is a suspension shop in your area i think it wouldn't cost more than $10 to swap it out.

  3. I was affraid that I was bidding against a hq member. Where is this shane from, and does he fix them or sell parts?

I'm from Indiana just outside of Chicago. I stock all parts for works shocks.

    Thanks, Shane

  4. Revalving changes the way the shock reacts. You will see and improvement in traction and ride control. A new spring is important in keeping everything working together properly. Think of the valving as the brain and the spring as the muscle. If you run without the correct spring rate likely you'll wear the shock out sooner and possibly render it un-rebuildable.

  5. With the proper spring rate increase it will ride no different that it did with a factory spring and arm. You have increased leverage on the coil with the longer swinger, so you need to proportionately increase the spring rate to compensate.

Or rig up some brackets? I dunno.

Racer's advice is spot on! If you've adjusted the pre-load collars and haven't found a desirable result then you'll need a new spring. Shane

  6. We used to be an American Star dealer several years ago. We had nothing but problems getting them to warranty thier stuff for our customers. They never told us they wouldn't warranty a part. What they did was say they didn't receive that part we sent back, tell use there was a problem with thier powdercoater or say it was already shipped when it hadn't been.

If you'll all remember every retailer in dirt wheels used to sell thier stuff and now no one does. There is probably a good reason for it.

If you ask my opinion i'd have to say avoid American Star!

  7. Does anyone have one on there bike? I have searched and found a few posts but no one has gotten an answer if they work or not. That was a few years ago though.

Just wondering if I can get one rebuilt as my rear shock.

    Thanks

Can't help you on this one, we've never tried it. What is wrong with your stocker that it can't be rebuilt? Shane
  8. i hope these 400ex elka shocks are 16-16.25" eye to eye because that would be perfect, i would get full suspension travel and i can raise the front end up higher than the rear = traction/wheelies
400EX shocks should measure 16.5" center eye to center eye. Let us know how it works out for you.

  9. I have installed a set of lsr 2 plus 1 a-arms on my shee and was trying to use my 450 shocks. I had no installation instructions for the arm and lsr has nothing on their site. I imagine they can only go on one way. I have them on but the shocks have barley any clearance from the upper a-arms. I this because the 450 shocks are so much larger than the stockers and aftermarkets or are a arm not installed right. Like I said they dont look right, the uppers and lowers should be in line with each other right.
Not always will they line up exactly but in any rate they shouldn't be off much. Can you post a picture so we can see better what your talking about?

    Shane

  10. I guess there is no right answer but you have all won me over. I am shopping for shocks and arms over the weekend. if i buy shocks for my stock arms could i later use them on +2 arms?
It will be very costly to make the shocks work with +2 later. You will not only need valving but you will need new springs as well.
  11. wow !! how much would it be to revalve one ??
Just revalving is not an option on the Banshee rear shock. A re-build & re-spring on that shock is between $300. and $400. depending on what kind of riding you do and the equipment you run.

With the Banshee the biggest benefit you'll get from a rebuild is traction. These bikes have so much explosive power that it is hard to transfer that to the ground.

  12. The rear shock is definately rebuildable. I had mine done by Shane and it works great but I don't think he is around any more... haven't heard from or about him in a while. I've heard lots of good things about TCS so I'm sure they could hook you up.
Hey Ruko! I'm still around and building suspension. I haven't been around HQ in awhile because the flamers really got to me. We tried to give a little back to Lee by sponsoring the suspension forum and it wasn't a good experience.

  13. You won't regret the shocks. If you do, then have the re-adjusted. That will be the issue if you have one.

I've seen the springs powder coated and chromed but don't know if the add a flex to the powder.

Powdercoating is what is on them now and will be just fine. The TCS rebuild to the works shock is a great set-up because Todd changes the valve itself.
  14. We took a Banshee in on trade that had a brand new FMF exhaust system with Titanium silencers.

We were originally wanting to build the piss out of the bike but quickly remembered we still have stuff it the back shed from two years ago we were going to build the piss out of. More ambition that time!

The system is brand new condition and might have 1 hour of run time on it if that. It is still perfect in every way!

    Thanks! Shane

  15. Okay, I have the full detail for everyone!

For the Banshee there are 8 sets of fronts still available. The part number is YA075. They have a single spring, it is progressively wound and considered to be a dual rate. They are compression and rebound adjustable. Price: $725.00

For the Banshee there are 5 rear shocks, part number is YA476. Compression, Rebound and high/low speed adjustment. Similar to the Elka elite just much better quality. Price: $525.00

We will try to get the right spring rate installed for your application but if we can't we'll get you a new spring at cost.

  17. Someone please bump this every now and then so everyone gets a chance at this deal!

Hey guys! Sorry I haven't been to active on here lately but we've been slammed trying to go national with our mini atv side of the business.

I'm throwing this up in a hurry on my way out the door to the races so please excuse the simpleness.

Basically Ohlins offered us a super deal on these shocks and we wanted to pass it on to you. There are only 8 sets available so it is a first come first serve deal. Get info on these at http://www.ohlins.com/ATV/Hidden/Recommend...16/Default.aspx. They are the YA 075 We really like Ohlins because thier components are some on the best quality we've every seen. We can try to have them adjust the spring rate for your application but if not that is a minor detail considering the price and we can get the correct springs for you and take the others in on trade.

We'll be at the races all weekend but i'll answer emails on Monday.

    Thanks,

    Shane

  18. I just bought some elka recreational shocks, got a deal i couldn't pass up, did i make a good buy? are they good shocks or what? I need to get the rear shock redone for my plus 4 swingarm, who does it and how much is it?

Depending on your riding style our rebuild runs $350. to $395. Turn around time is about two weeks.

Not all rebuilds are the same. Our rebuild includes an entire new valve, new shim stack and Eibach or Hyperco springs. There is a difference!

  19. Hello everyone. My banshee has +2 up 1 a- arms, and a +1 swingarm. I have a stock shock on the back and I'm bottoming out from about 5 feet of air. I only weigh about 170lbs. I traded some parts for another shock from a member of this site. I installed it and it feels basically the same as the one I took off. I can adjust the compression knob all the way both ways and cannot feel any change in the way the shock feels. I have the spring adjuster nuts all the way down too. My right side silencer is smashed right now and I don't want to fix it just to smash it again. Does it sound like I have two bad shocks to you guys. I can stand next to it and push the seat down about 6 inches with one arm. I can't afford to buy a new aftermarket shock. What's my best option? A used aftermarket, a used stock shock, have one of mine rebuilt, or is there a better shock off of another quad that will fit with minor mods? This really sucks! Used shocks are the way to go to save moey, but who knows how many I'll have to buy to get a good one. Any help would be great! I just want to get it fixed without dropping a ton of money. I just don't have it to spend.

Give us a call at (219)313-1424. We can offer you some options and we may be able to fix one of the shock you have for as little as $55.

  20. Hi,

I ride mostly trails and any sand pit i can find. I was wondering about getting +2 A-arms fore better handling and a -1 swingarm, what kind of shocks should i go with? There is no limit for price.

If you want the best then consider AXIS or Ohlins. They are both available through us.
