  1. Tore into it last night and the pilot is 42.5 (i'm assuming this is stock cause we didn't change it???) needle in middle notch and the main is 155 we are about 500-750 ft. ASL looks like I'm a bit leaner than your setup Slowpoke so I'm gonna try your setup and see what happens...are you around the same elivation as me?
  2. I should have torn the thing apart to gather all the info I could before I had posted this...We ended up going to one of the local shops and they recommended the main jet size for him and that's what he's been using...I can't remember what I ate for dinner last week let alone what size jet that we put in there a year ago. We didn't change the pilot at all, and I'm pretty sure that we went up on the needle one notch. Give me a couple days and I'll get in there and gather all the right info so I can try to get this thing fixed. I did look at his exaust earlier today and he actually has 12 plates on it instead of 6 like i thought. Thanks
  3. Holy crap man!!! I hope I don't run into that problem!!! We put all those parts on his bike at the beginning of last season and it runs fine for the most part, starts right up, idles fine and it does do ok when he takes off at a moderate speed. I'm positive that the timing is sweet on it because that was one of the first things I checked when we ran into the problem so I dunno... maby I'll just take a fiew plates off the exaust and see how it does seeing as how that thing is freking unbearably loud as it is... he may lose a little performance but it's better than possibly having to deal with the problem above.
  4. I am having a little trouble with my bro's warrior...it is popping and backfiring from 1/2 to WOT. So the first thing I thought was that it was too lean so I had him pull the choke out to the first notch and take it for a ride again and it actually got worse. he put a weisco hi performance piston, k&n filter, hot cam, and a white brothers exaust on it running 6 rings i believe. as it's running the head pipe in my opinion gets abnormally hot which also makes me think its too lean....but again the choke pull test made it run worse. I'm also sure that the timing is set correctly on it so I'm stuck on what else to do... I'm pretty new to this forum and I have to say it's really great how much people try to help each other out when they are having troubles. Thanks alot in advance!!!!
  5. I'm at around 500-1000ft ASL
  6. Last fall I was checking out my compression and although I don't remember the exact readings I do remember that there was 10-12psi difference between the cylinders, so I figured it was time for a new topend. Got a piston and gasket set from Nameura, seemed like a good set haven't really heard much about them, but decided to give them a try. So while having the head off I decided I'd shave it down and ended up taking .027" off, I didn't want to go any further because from what I've read most people only go like .030" or so. So I'm figuring that this is going to get me right around 150psi or so which is what I was looking for. Got the thing back together last night...warmed it up...and did a compression test to see where I'm at....130/L 132/R checked it twice and got the same reading...Although I am happy that both cylinders are just about equal I figured that the compression would be alot higher. Does temperature effect compression? it's about 30 here in MI
  7. Hey folks, I decided to take on the project over the winter of rebuilding my 90 banshee. It was pretty much stock with the only mod being that it is bored .040 over. So I decided to go out and get a fiew go-fast parts and ended up with some FMF gold series pipes with power core 2 silencers, timing plate, ported reeds with boyesen power reeds, top end rebuild kit from namura, boost bottle, I milled the stock head .027 over, and K&N pod filters. I know that this seems to be a repeditive question but after all the time and money I put into this thing I think it would be better to ask for a little help on where to start on my jetting so I don't blow it up. I am a woods rider at about 500-1000ft above sea level. I use premium gas mixed at 50:1. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated and if you need any more info let me know and I'll get it posted. Thanks
