  1. okay dont post much but read alot on here, I am a streetbike dragracer, and have my old 87 banshee for the trails. I have a 05 GSXR1000, the motor is fully capable of getting in the upper 9s stock, problem with the liter bikes is weight and wheelbase launching. Lower and stretch them and there ya go. Or put it in a banshee chassis set up right and no problem running 9's though some nitrous or turbo on there and 8s are easy. I have a turbo on it now and dyno about 230 and run 8.8s all day. 100 percent stock engine/clutch. And I weigh 220. I was running high 9s on stock motor. Weight makes a huge difference with these light weight bikes.

If I wanted to make a drag banshee it would prolly be a turbo GSXR 1000 motor in it, or at least a 60 hp dry shot. either way you looking at about 210-230 hp plenty to get low 9's

And as was said, alot of guys just cant launch I remember when I had my 00 busa stock pipes just lowered and geared running 9.8's, most guys running low 10s wondered what I did to it. The rider makes a huge difference. One guy can get on a bike run a 9.50 another guy same weight cant get into the 9's. Launching with alot of power in a bike is harder than people realize.

  2. how much for motor and condition, hours and last rebuild?

PM me an offer on the motor, I was told it was rebuilt before I got it but not for sure. It still has good compression and power, doesnt need a rebuild I dont think. I am going to put a compression tester on it tommorow because of the many questions I have got. Its still strong and beats the 4 strokes at the dirt drags. I have put about 26 hrs on it since I got it most of that was easy trail riding with my kid on his TRX250 .

  3. ...... If he can't even repack the pipes...why would I spend $600 on a motor that was probably raped to hell, and wasn't maintained? (I'm not saying it is...I was just explaining the reasoning behind it.)

And if I'm paying $x + Shipping, I want to know if I have to spend more on them.

Why would you come on my thread say shit like that, I could have repacked them if I wanted !!!! But dont need to, and just fyi I have ran castor 927 in it up until about 1 or 2 ago and switched over to mobil 1 2t, and have always used just good ol valvoline VR1 in the tranny just change it often. So what else is there to maintain on the motor??? Plugs have never fouled on it, have changed them twice in the 4 or 5 yrs I have had it.

  4. Okay here are some pics, I also took a video for anyone interested in the motor, showing it runs great. Have to email for that one though, dont know how to post a video online.

Also wheels are ITP not douglas those were my old ones I guess.

Selling that shift lever seperate too, its pretty new.

Or if someone is interested in the whole thing shoot me an offer. I have had it since 2003 and never let me down, Just not very pretty.

  5. Have a complete 87 J Arm banshee I am parting out, will get some pics on here later. It runs great, stock motor, one top end rebuild I believe, I had the head milled, thats about it. Want to sell the complete motor, not parting it out. It has Douglas aluminum wheels with very good tread Maxxis Razr 2 the big 22" rears, and offset rear wheels. I wont be selling the frame, its rear sectiion is tweaked and a repair on the stearing stem loop, so not in great shape but everything else goes, here is a pic but with different wheels and tires. I also have a set of stock banshee wheels and tires from a newer banshee, maybe with half the tread. The carbs are jetted with a toomey kit. The pipes are FMF gold with toomey silencers. Axle is good and straight, swingarm is good. Frame and swingarm skid plates. The front suspension is good, and it has the yfz 450 shocks on the front , modded to fit the banshee. Shoot me a pm or email me at georgiadirect@gmail.com with what you might want and will get you a pic and price.

  6. i love my mudesharks they hook up so good, and are low enough that ive never had a problem with slidding sideways.

Went from mudsharks to RAZR 2's and didnt realize how bad the sharks were, only place I think the mudsharks are good are in the soupy mud, get on anything else and they suck. Where the Razrs do good everywhere.

  7. Yes the bottle say to mix 50:1, should i realy mix 50:1?

And the jetting should be ok, the bike is brand new   but i'm fouling plugs. It only does that when i'm warming it up.

Is it the jetting, the mix are i'm just not meant to drive a banshee  :jesterlaugh:

Just not meant to ride a banshee, give it to me, I am. LOL Just kidding, not the plugs, my 87 had a set of plugs in it for about 20-30 hrs and then sat 9 months and fired right up same plugs. I am piped and jetted too, like was said something else wrong or your riding it like a 4 stroke that will do it to. Gotta ride it like you stole it as they say,

  8. I have first hands experience on the axle and shocks.  The axle is 2 in. narrower, but you can turn your wheels over and get some of that back.  It fits fine in the housing.  As for the YFZ shocks.  They have to be on the lowest compression settings, and you have to grind the upper mounds and you have to grind the a-arms.  If you want full detail, I can send you pictures and instructions.

Along with this on my 87 I had to remove some material from the aluminum bearing housing on the bottoms of the shocks to clear the a arm mount. Had to just grind from the end because the bolt holes were to close to the a arm and the shock was to thick to clear it. It helped alot I couldnt believe the difference, but my banshee shocks were shot anyway.

  9. Need the following,

1> Bolts, nuits to hold on axle carrier the ones about 6 inches long or so.

    2> Rear Plastic

    3> Rear Grab Bar

    4> Rear Hubs

5> Axle if its a good price, already bought one off here, that was messed up.
