  1. any razr tire is a waste of money. why spend a fortune on some tires and then have to "grind" on them to get them to hook? sounds pretty ridiculous to me.

its no different then cutting out every other row of lugs on a set of kenda knarly's, your still modifying the tread to suit your specific needs. why buy a brand new set of tires to cut the lugs out of?

and just a little more info on those tires, I bought em from a local gncc racer for 25$ a tire, no holes and only a few races on em, already had the knobs "grooved". now if I bought a brand new set of razr tires for 60-70$ a tires, most likily I wouldnt be cutting on em with a grinding disc.

  2. I'd reccomend some regular maxxis razr tires. they aint as aggressive as the razr2's and are easier to slide with and stuff. I have a set that has been "grooved" where they took a grinder and cut notchs out the center of the tread knobs which lets the knobs flex more and makes it grab more on hardpack. not sure how good these tires will do in sand though...

  3. 2001 yamaha banshee, has +2+1 lonestar a-arms, TCS front shocks, steel braided front brake lines, Toomey T5 pipes and silencers, tors removal kit, pro design air filter and adaptor plate, full chassis aluminum skid plate, gripper seat cover, maxxis razr2 tires all around. I rebuilt this banshee from the frame up as a little restor project........frame and swingarm/carrier, all new bearings and seals in the swingarm and axle carrier, new chain and sprockets (14/41 gearing) with x-ring chain. the motor is all stock except for a aftermarket clutch kit and stainless steel side cover allen head bolts. was told by the previous owner that its on the origional bore, but I dont know for sure since ive not pulled the head, the pistons look clean with no blowby on the exhaust and intake. runs excellent and will idle all day, start first kick easily every time. good brakes front and rear with good pads. the bike has been gone over bottom to top, front to rear and needs nothing at all. I have always ran klotz benol mixed at 32:1 since ive had the bike. make a good trail shee for somebody. its a nice bike, but im just looking for a 450 to use for some xc racing.

asking $2900 for it, or trade for a honda or yamaha 450 fourwheeler. im located in Park City, Ky 42160

  4.

that video is a couple years old, but it was my 250r and our first banshee we owned.

250r was built.....ported oem 68mm jug, stock stroke spacer plate motor, thin head gasket with 200 psi running race fuel, vforce3, 38mm air stryker, esr trx5 exhaust

banshee was stock motor with T5's and k&N (no lid) and also a slipping clutch.

  5. any one have ITP holeshot hd's? wondering if they are worth it to have the extra lug or would a guy be better off with XCR's... im a fast paced trail rider. no track. hardly any sand

about the only advantage the HD's would have over the XCR's would be traction in deep ruts. the xcr's are alot lighter and would be alot easier to make the bike handel how you want, like sliding it around tight trees and stuff and breaking traction when you want it to. the HD's have some mean sidewall lugs and they are tricky to make em slide like you want without grabing traction and making the bike tip over on two wheels more easily

  6. Trail rider, do you have the Bill Ballance Razr's on your Banshee or was that your brother that had em on his quad ?

I guess Ballance ran his signature model tires for some of last season and he's prolly running them again this season. (he should prolly switch back the winning tire combo ;))

Im also thinking the 22's might be a good size tire if your not a very aggressive trail rider. For example, when we go out riding and we race around the trails as fast as we can. I wonder how many guys out there are aggressive trail 'racing', and how many guys just ride at a good pace and are not as aggressive. I'd guess that most guys are not racing around the trails and more guys are just out for a good, fun ride and I think these guys could go either way with the rear tire size, the 20 or the 22's would work fine for em. I think the guys who like to 'put the hammer down' and race around with your buddies, would be far better off using the sportier 20 inch size. I think the larger 22's would work fine for guys that are just out for a good trail ride. Its just a theory.

Oh and 'Trail Rider", those mud pictures you posted look craaaaazy. Racing beats the hell out of an ATV. I am not a fan of mud riding. I prefer to stay dry  .

well, if were going by who made this screen name here, its my brother ryan who's blue shee is in the sig, I myself have owned 3 different banshees (including the very first one we bought together) and rode/raced that 250r thats in the pic for a while until trading it for a banshee a few months ago. my brothers banshee (in the sig) is the one with the razr ballance tires. and actually, we've not sen but very few people with those tires at the races, most of em use the razr/razrII combo. these tires are very aggressive and almost give too much traction. he has to run em aired up tight with like 10psi cause thats the only way he can get em to slide and spin. he tried running em like normal tires and they bite so much its hard to control the bike under hard aggresive riding.

  7. have u tried these tires out?????

no ive not tried em myself, but i'd like to later on sometime. the price on em is pretty good too. to me, they look like they would be awesome for any kind of loose dirt or terrain, or even mud? looks like they would slide pretty easy too since they dont have a real aggressive sidewall lug pattern.

  8. if somebody gave me a whole case of premix i'd use it for sure. royal purple is suppose to be one of the best oil brands out there, but ive never tried any of it in my truck cause its a little to expensive for my tastes. but i'd say that would be a good quality premix.

  9. I think it would be cool for a couple guys to get together and have a "premix smell test" with their bikes. buy a 16oz bottle of every type of premix, mix up a small batch with each and pour about a gallon in the tank, ride it around a little bit and get the sweet smells a rollin', do that with each oil and see what really has the best smell then

  10. lol.......ah shit I give up.......theres no use arguing about this anymore, you got a far better response to this topic then me lol :notworthy: ......so Im done :flush: lol

but I will say one more thing, and tell me what your think on this. I was looking at the Irazr and ohtsu tread patterns, and they are fairly similar to my eyes. they have close to the same staggered tread pattern, except different shapped and angled knobs, and different shoulder knobs. and on both tires, theres a space between each lug across the width of the tire where it looks like when they spin, there would be a small line of dirt left where the lugs didnt contact the ground because they are not overlapping (like on the razrs/razr2s, holeshots, etc) sorta like this?

    razrs/holeshots X X X X ohtsu/Irazr _ _ _ _

    X X X - _ - _ - _ -

    X X X X _ - _ - _ - _

    - - - -

  11. :shootself:

    :shootself: fyi what are ohtsus????

these are the infamous ohtsu tires (or Honda tires as most people on here call em  )

    http://www.farmandsandtoys.com/partdetail.asp?partid=174

and dont be so hostil there loco  , I kinda figured that post I made would get you stirred up on the talk about what is the best tire. I tell you what, if I could find a good deal on a set of these "honda tires" i'll try em out and post my own review on how they compare to "everything else". you got a good set you'd want to sell for cheap?

  12. shouldve gone with the ohtsus. they hook harder than any tire mentioned in this thread. ive run all those other tires except for the new gimmick bill ballance tires and the ohtsus hook harder than all of them.

you know, I bet you would change your mind if you tried a set of the razr ballance tires, so dont knock em if you havent tried em or seen em in person. these tires do not slip in straight dirt, the lugs are so big and have the right kind of spacing that they just dig right in with out much wheel spin at all.

and as much as you talk about the ohtsus tires, if they hook up so good then why dont I see all the professional XC racers using them? and its not cause they are sponsered by itp or maxxis or kenda, etc., cause a top level racer wouldnt be using some big fancy name brand tire if they didnt get the job done.

  13. ive always ran maxxis razr 2 front tires. they are kinda pricy brand new (but ive always got mine used for alot cheaper) they are a good tire if you do some aggressive riding. they hold pretty good in rutted trails and clean out pretty good. they got pretty big lugs so they can handle some messy stuff.
