  1. I'm not some special snow flake, no need to try not to offend me, sometimes people need a little ball busting. No, the banshee is the first 2 stroke bike I've ever had. I can take off just fine, it just takes a lot of throttle and careful clutch work to do so. But...being that it is the only 2 stroke I've ever had, I have no reference to compare to know if the way it is behaving is normal or not. It's definitely rideable, but I think 97Screamer is right, it does bog at 1/4 throttle and below. It just doesn't take well to light throttle inputs. I can get around that by just giving it more gas and doing a burn out whenever I take off from a stop, but I'm not sure that's the way it's "supposed" to be. Other than that it's a blast, no other complaints other than the fact it can be difficult to get started at times.
  2. Airbox is stock, no idea what reeds even are, and it's tucson so really hot weather, generally 90+ til december.
  3. It has FMF gold series fatty pipes, fmf powercore2 exhaust, white brothers boost bottle, and the swing arm says PRM products. Only other mods that I know of are cosmetic/non mechanical in nature. I'm at 3400 ft elevation.
  4. Well to test your theory I just took it out to get the mail (my mail box is almost a mile away) and of course it was on good behavior. Had no problems getting it moving with light throttle... It still bogs, and like you say, it's only under 1/4 throttle. By bogs, I mean, you'll just hear that low brrp sound, like its almost at an extremely low RPM. It does not do it noticeably once moving, however. I'll get a compression tester, but wouldn't low compression have other symptoms? Because it's certainly not lacking in power, I've even compared it to other banshees. It really hauls ass. I get even exhaust pulses out of both pipes, though one pipe seems to accumulate more carbon than the other for whatever reason. Though I do worry that whoever put all these mods on it, didn't up the jet properly to compensate. Maybe the reason it's fast is because it's running very lean. I'm not sure, gonna have to test compression and open up the carbs and have a look. Thank you very much for the help, it's highly appreciated.
  5. I have a Clymer manual on the way, should be here in a couple days. I'll PM you my email for the yamaha one though, much appreciated. No, it does not start easy, gotta press the throttle to keep it idleing til it warms up. However once it's warmed up, it'll start just with a kick and hold idle fine. I don't think it bogs when it's rolling, I'd have to test it though to be sure.
  6. No offense taken, I don't really know anything. It bogs down a lot when trying to move from a stop, but other than that, it shifts gears fine. But if I moved the throttle to 1/8 and then slowly let out the clutch, it's going to bog down and stall out. It's had a lot of things done to it, such as pipes, exhaust, a boost bottle (which I want to get rid of) and looks like some sort of custom swing arm. I just don't know much about how it's all put together, I need a manual.
  7. Not sure what you mean, the clutch appears to work fine. Not even sure what I would be looking for.
  8. I searched but didn't find anything related to this question. I have an 05, and to get it moving from a dead start on a level surface, requires about 1/2 throttle and a lot of clutch play. It's somewhat lessened once it warms up, but still takes a lot of gas to get it going. Sometimes it will "bog down" and stall, and I'm not sure if this is normal. Recently got my gf a 400ex, and while I understand the 400EX is a 4 stroke, you can almost just let out the clutch with no throttle and it starts moving no problem. Is this just a banshee thing? I've had no problems otherwise, except for the occasional backfire.
  9. That sounds like a good idea, I just don't want to mess the thing up and fry a piston or something because it's not set up right. Though I guess if it wasn't jetted for a higher elevation, it would run rich instead of lean.
  10. I see. I'll get rid of it anyway then. The quad runs fine to me (with the exception of getting it moving without stalling, takes at least half throttle and a lot of clutch work to get it going), but I have no idea if it's even jetted properly (I'm at 3500 ft), what condition the top end is in, the grab bar is bent, and there are a few cosmetic items I would like to change. So, my plan is to get a shopping list together, and rebuild this thing almost completely and give it a good clean bill of health.
  11. Gotcha, I'm coming from absolutely 0 knowledge as far as banshees and 2 strokes go, so I ask dumb questions. I just read boost bottle=cracked boots=bad so I was going to try and fix that.
  12. nice avatar. Got a serious broner right now. So why would I get the UPP over the Chariot racing? More research needed...
  13. When I bought this quad it had a lot of stuff already done to it. FMF gold series fatty pipes, FMF power core...some sort of custom swing arm, and a boost bottle. Now, from what I've read the boost bottle is far more trouble than it's worth, and I've also read that I can get a billet intake that is nicer and includes a replacement part that the boost bottle takes up. I just want to make sure this is the right part: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Chariot-Banshee-Billet-Intakes-36-40-carb-Crossover-V-Force-2-3-4-/281971446215 It's a 2005, and still has two carbs, but there seems to be different intakes for different carbs, but I have no idea which one is which. Thanks
  14. Hi everyone, I recently picked up an 05 banshee, it has a boost bottle (I think), larger sprocket, toomey pipes, fmf exhaust....some other stuff too I think, not sure. Thing is crazy fast, scared the absolute crap out of me the first few times I rode it. Well, my question involves the fuel shutoff. I'm not sure if I'm supposed to follow the arrow on the selector, or the notch. I don't know if I'm pointing at "ON" or "RESERVE". I've searched and searched, and apparently I am the sole dumb ass that has this question in all of history. Thanks, I'm located in southwest Tucson, look forward to having some fun around here.
