  1. I think I have an exhaust leak. First off, I was riding it about two weeks ago and the powerband wasn't happening at all. No bogging, just acceleration with no powerband. I fired up my Banshee today and saw a lot of smoke coming out of what I think was my exhaust clamp behind the carburetor that connect the two portions of the pipe. Could this be causing my powerband issue? Ima check for air leaks when I get a chance and do plug chops but I definitely feel like I have an exhaust leak. Close to the bottom of the engine near the front I heard a ticking noise. Not clinking or anything like the kick start rattle or natural ping of the engine itself, but a ticking sort of while it was idling, and something smelled like it was burning. Not the usual exhaust smell. I think I got a lot more problems than one.
  2. After I get my exhaust leak fixed, I am wanting to do some simple yet not to costly mods on my banshee to really wake it up. From talking to Kevin Galindo and Tyler Faith, they both think these are some good places to start... TORS Eliminator (just to save future headaches) V-Force 4 Reeds +4 Timing 20cc Domes Aftermarket Head I'm being told the 20cc domes will put me on the borderline for fuel where I need 93 Octane. What performance differences can I expect to see with these mods? Also, does anyone know any other simple mods I can make to add power that don't cost too much? I am on a limited budget right now but plan to put a 4mil crank in when I get the money. If I'll need to change anything with my jetting/etc. on the bike with these mods then that information would be greatly appreciated! Here is what I currently have in the bike and current riding conditions... Premix: 40:1 w/ Amsoil Dominator Pilot Jets: 30 Needle Jets: 4th Notch Main Jets: 280 Air Screw: 1.5 Turns Exhaust: FMF Fatty Gold Series w/ Powercore Silencer K&N Filter w/ no air box lid Current Temperature: 70-80 Elevation: 600 above sea level
  3. Just realized Viton isn't a brand but the material. My bad! Still need help. If OEM o-rings will work I'll just get those bit I'd still appreciate the help.
  4. Okay so I found an exhaust leak on my left pipe where it goes into the jug. Problem seems to be just a bad o-ring and my tension spring is also loose. Anybody know where to find Viton o-rings? I'm hearing from a lot of people those are the best brand but I'm having a hard time locating them. I'm in NC and the closest bearing shop I can go to doesn't have them on their site when I checked. I know they could probably order them if I went up there or called, but where can I find em myself? Also what are some other reputable brands if y'all know any?
  5. Yeah I was thinking +4 too based on what my buddy Tyler Faith on here told me. As far as gas goes I was planning on running 93 octane, non ethanol because that's the highest octane we have around here and it's right up the road.
  6. Okay man. What you recommend for timing? For reeds I was thinking the VF4s would be good.
  7. I was just asking if I would need better pipes for trail riding or if my FMFs would suffice because of their big bottom end power for quick turns and quick blasts around trees and tight corners. I ain't saying I don't like mine. Just wanted a better recommendation if there was for how I would be riding but I think I'll keep em now. Ill just have to get a Turbine core silencer if I decide to take it in the parks. Thanks everyone.

  10. Possibly. I'll say yes just to be safe. My buddies and I mainly ride in the woods behind each other's house, but we've been talking about riding at some local parks that have four wheeler and dirt bike trails. I'm thinking a spark arrestor would almost always be required in national park instances right?
  11. Im wanting to get new exhaust in the future, but I know nothing about the brands or what each pipe will offer. Where I live there's mostly trails so I wouldnt think I'd need as much top end like if I was riding through fields and such, but I'd like a good education on pipes nonetheless. Between FMFs, Toomey's, and Pro Circuit, and DMC pipes, do y'all know the advantages/disadvantages, top and bottom end performance, HP/Torque difference, and pros/cons (LOTS OF ETC.) of each? Thanks much! - A Banshee Noob
