peterlocal22 Posted April 26, 2008 Report Posted April 26, 2008 ok guys putting my fly wheel back on and im having problems tightning the nut down to torque specs because i dont have the tool to hold the fly wheel in place. any ways around this with out using an impact gun? thanks Quote
theshee Posted April 26, 2008 Report Posted April 26, 2008 I used a ractchet in the dunes last year, had my bro hold on the flywheel with the bike in gear, red loctited it down and it lasted the weekend like that. Quote
LS1Inferno Posted April 26, 2008 Report Posted April 26, 2008 Put some greese on the shaft first, keep it from sticking, and just hit it with an impact, if you know what you impact is capable of, mine i spin it on till its snug then hit it once or twice for about a second each. i dont bother torqueing shit. Never had anything come apart. (knock on wood) Quote
Bansh-eman Posted April 26, 2008 Report Posted April 26, 2008 if you have the clutch cover pulled then stuff a rag in between the baskets and the two gears on the crank. this will hold it still so you can tighten it down. Quote

BansheeRider71 Posted April 27, 2008 Report Posted April 27, 2008 Last weekend when I was putting on my timing plate, I used a U bolt that was spaced out far enough to go in the holes of the fly wheel an used a small piece of tubing that was laying around my shop to hold it in place when I was removing it, when tightening I did the same thing an like LS1Inferno said just hit it with the impact until it quits spinning an hit it again once or twice for about a second an that should hold. F.BEJARANO Posted April 27, 2008 Report Posted April 27, 2008 I used my tie down strap with a hook. looped the strap and hook around the flywheel and tied the slack on the a-arm and it went no where Quote
Bansh-eman Posted April 27, 2008 Report Posted April 27, 2008 its also a good idea to dab a little super glue on the key before you put it in. let it dry so when you slide the flywheel on the key doesnt shift out of place Quote
ClimbAnyHill Posted April 27, 2008 Report Posted April 27, 2008 Take it to a local tire shop, they'll hit it with a gun for a bag of Cheetos! I've done the tie down strap & works fine, I also used a penny to jam the gears. The penny is really soft so it absorbs the impact without damage. I don't know the torque specs but I give it a couple good pumps + Loctite and works fine! Quote
