ds41 Posted April 2, 2008 Report Posted April 2, 2008 I recently popped the chain, and i had no case saver and this is a result, nothing is leaking, or anything its just that top piece that is gone what could i do? or how should i fix it Quote
pate Posted April 2, 2008 Report Posted April 2, 2008 i would try some silicone or something high temp. Quote
bansheejoel Posted April 2, 2008 Report Posted April 2, 2008 If it was me i would use jb weld. I know a couple of people that have cracked their cases and they leaked gear lube and jb weld sealed it up and they never had a problem with it. Quote
ds41 Posted April 2, 2008 Author Report Posted April 2, 2008 nice ill go ahead and go with some JB weld, what about a chain? whats the best chain and how many links would it be if its stock swing arm 14t front and 41 t back Quote
pate Posted April 2, 2008 Report Posted April 2, 2008 go to ebay u can get sprockets and chain together for like 65.00 to 80.00 and u get get them in colors. they are good chains and sprockets. Quote
Animalman294 Posted April 2, 2008 Report Posted April 2, 2008 YA, I'd JB Weld it to start with and see if that fixes it if it's not leaking anything......... Quote

J.B. weld will do nothing but make it look a little better. as long as theres no leaks, let it go. Another idea is to trim the busted area with a die grinder, you could make it look better, ( less noticable) I've done this to a few bikes in the past. Quote
jbooker82 Posted April 3, 2008 Report Posted April 3, 2008 go to ebay u can get sprockets and chain together for like 65.00 to 80.00 and u get get them in colors. they are good chains and sprockets. There is no way I would skimp on the chain. If you get one off of ebay buy a good chain not a no name brank. Quote
Screaming Yellow Zonker Posted April 3, 2008 Report Posted April 3, 2008 you can get some good parts through F.A.S.T. X-ring chain and gears. do not skimp on the chain. Quote
Leadfoot350 Posted April 3, 2008 Report Posted April 3, 2008 I would grind it flat before anything. Thats a big hole to just put jb weld on it. Try to get a thin piece of alum to cover the hole then jb weld around it. Or you could just have someone weld it but I dont think its going to need it because there is not much pressure in the gear side. Either way it makes me happy to have a case saver! Quote
Dick Wheels Posted April 3, 2008 Report Posted April 3, 2008 lol thats nothing! i should post a pic of my case. The chain went on the previous owner and took everything clean off. It dosent leak and the stator side is all good but took off all the mounts around the sprocket Quote
Twistedtrik Posted April 3, 2008 Report Posted April 3, 2008 We weld cases all the time in our shop. Not a huge deal to do. Any good GTAW welder can fix it and make it unnoticeable. Quote
