KaosBanshee44 Posted March 21, 2008 Report Posted March 21, 2008 So were putting together my buddies motor last night and the pistons came with the two regular rings and a extra ring that was real real thin kinda looks like a wiper ring for a 4stroke piston but it only fit in the bottom ring. Anyway know what i'm talking about? I talked to Kiel, Jamey, and a few other people in my town and nobody has heard of it. Quote
Bansh-eman Posted March 21, 2008 Report Posted March 21, 2008 a 2 stroke piston normally has only have 1 ring Quote
bansheejoel Posted March 21, 2008 Report Posted March 21, 2008 i just put a set of wiseco pro-lites in my shee...they had 2 rings Quote
Bansh-eman Posted March 21, 2008 Report Posted March 21, 2008 i have never installed a 2 stroke that had more then one ring. thats on gokarts, dirtbikes, and quads. its possible but i havent seen anything with it you sure you installed prolites? banshee prolites dont have 2 rings. and the blasters are the same Quote

I've used Vito's, Pro-X and WSM... all of them use 2 rings Not sure about that third ring... probably some type of oil ring. Edited March 21, 2008 by Fouledout421 Quote
dajogejr Posted March 21, 2008 Report Posted March 21, 2008 125 pistons have a single ring, every banshee piston I have ever used is 2 rings, 250s as well. I've done a few weedeater or small lawn mowers that have one ring, as well. Maybe it wasn't supposed to be in there, not sure... Quote
KaosBanshee44 Posted March 21, 2008 Author Report Posted March 21, 2008 Not sure either he put it behind the lower ring, i don't know it's odd to me since it's already got tension on the ring when you squeeze it in the jug so i wouldn't think it's behind the ring for tension who knows. Quote
zach45 Posted March 21, 2008 Report Posted March 21, 2008 2 rings in the 2 banshees i did... and my zilla.. Quote
inthemail Posted March 21, 2008 Report Posted March 21, 2008 spares mabye? thats weird. call the manufcturer and ask wtf Quote

tnGRbanshee Posted March 23, 2008 Report Posted March 23, 2008 same here im lookin at brand new set of prolites they and also my 250R both have two rings only thing ive ever saw with one is real small engines Quote
4stroker Posted March 28, 2008 Report Posted March 28, 2008 a 2 stroke piston normally has only have 1 ring you are a "HQ Legend" yet you have never seen a banshee piston? is the ring your talkin about kinda crinkly looking? i think wiseco must only put them sometimes or something stupid like that, or just started putting them in. they are supposed to go on the bottom ring land first and then put the proper ring over it (i think) i left them out on my last rebuild Quote
mall0y Posted March 28, 2008 Report Posted March 28, 2008 (edited) Every 2-stroke I've ever built used 2 rings. Banshee's, Blasters, 250's, etc... I would call up the piston manufacturer and ask them whats up. They'll know for sure. Edited March 28, 2008 by mall0y Quote

Now to be dair, I don;t think the original poster actually said he had a groove in the piston for a third ring.............. I think may have just found three rings in the box, in which case that's Wiseco shipping extra crap in the their packaging. I have bot extra rings an circlips in several different piston boxes from them. :geek: Quote
fun_on_the_sand Posted March 28, 2008 Report Posted March 28, 2008 I've only seen pistons with 2 grooves and 2 rings. Maybe it's shim, just an idea Quote
