Dont know about "Termanology" but checking your slides to make sure they are opening & closing at precisely the exact same time, in sync. The adjustment is on top of carb where cable meets cap, depending on carbs.

Ive always done mine by eye. Keep adjusting untill both open at the same time. Make sure they both open all the way and youve got it. I dont see the need for a tool to do this. Im wrong on things from time to time so if someone can please enlighten me on the need for a tool Id appreciate it.

I check them at idle and get them even using the idle screws on the sides of the carbs (tors removed) Then i screw the cable adjuster at the thumb throttle out until the bike starts to rev up a little. Next adjust the cable adjusters on the carb cap untill the carbs are even again. This makes sure that the carbs are in synch at idle and in synch when you hit the throttle. Screw the cable adjuster at the thumb back in until you have about and 1/8 inch of free play at the thumb throttle and you are done.
