Did he have some weird custom domes in there that they had to get rid of the key to hold them in place? There is no way that would brake off, had to be deliberate.

Have your local welding shop weld a ball of aluminum on there and take it to a machine shop and have them mill the little tab back in there and you will be set. The little tab only serves to index the dome and hold it from spinning when you install your spark plugs. I don't know about your area but around here I could get a welder and machine shop to fix that for less than $40. Lot cheaper than a whole new head.

May be you could drill and tap it. Thread a stanless steel allen head bolt in to the hole then cut it off. That way you would just have a little stainless steel stud sticking out to keep the domes from turning.
