bansheefreak05 Posted February 9, 2008 Report Posted February 9, 2008 I just got a engine from my friend that has been sitting for 2 years (i'm the one that took it out and now I finally get it), I bored the cylinder's and have a new clutch every thing else is fine. My question is that it's been sitting without oil and will that be a problem?? I know i should probably pull it apart but would it be fine to just run it???? It also has a rebuilt crank so i know that is good as well thanks Quote
00tbanshee Posted February 9, 2008 Report Posted February 9, 2008 (edited) i'd be safe to say put oil in and run it but i would drain the oil after a day of riding and out new in.as long as it wasn't setting out side in the weather.also i guess it was fine when it was last run? jbooker82 Posted February 9, 2008 Report Posted February 9, 2008 i would squirt a little 2 stroke oil in the plugs. Put a little through the carbs to get it down in the crank berrings. roll the motor over with the plugs out. Then just fire it up. Probably smoke a little from the extra oil. josh Quote
Wildcardracing Posted February 9, 2008 Report Posted February 9, 2008 Seals can dry and crack after sitting unused that long. The trans seals are not too big of a deal, but the crank seals on the other hand are a big problem if they leak. I would do a leak down on it if it were mine. Quote
