I just got a engine from my friend that has been sitting for 2 years (i'm the one that took it out and now I finally get it), I bored the cylinder's and have a new clutch every thing else is fine. My question is that it's been sitting without oil and will that be a problem?? I know i should probably pull it apart but would it be fine to just run it???? It also has a rebuilt crank so i know that is good as well

thanks

i'd be safe to say put oil in and run it but i would drain the oil after a day of riding and out new in.as long as it wasn't setting out side in the weather.also i guess it was fine when it was last run?

i would squirt a little 2 stroke oil in the plugs. Put a little through the carbs to get it down in the crank berrings. roll the motor over with the plugs out. Then just fire it up. Probably smoke a little from the extra oil.

Seals can dry and crack after sitting unused that long. The trans seals are not too big of a deal, but the crank seals on the other hand are a big problem if they leak. I would do a leak down on it if it were mine.
