peterlocal22 Posted October 24, 2007 Report Posted October 24, 2007 had alot of scrapes on the bottom of my bros banshee frame and i wanted to get it taken care of before winter to prevent rusting when we go riding in the next couple months. so i did a light sanding and then applied a couple coats of rustolium spray primer. how long do i have to waite after this to apply final two coats of rustolium spray paint? thanks peter oh ya the back of the can had no info on this. unless i missed it. theshee Posted October 24, 2007 Report Posted October 24, 2007 should say on the back of the can... But if it doesnt, just make sure it is cured. If you paint over primer that isnt cure it can make the paint bubble when you spray over it. EDIT.. I see you found what you were looking for. Quote
peterlocal22 Posted October 24, 2007 Author Report Posted October 24, 2007 anyone know the time it takes for primer to cure? hours, minutes? thanks Quote
Duneman101 Posted October 24, 2007 Report Posted October 24, 2007 anyone know the time it takes for primer to cure? hours, minutes?thanks there are some factors that need to be taken into account... temperature humidity coat thickness was the paint area well ventilated stuff like that... usually a couple hours is sufficient if the temp is warm enough (70's 80's) and the humidity is low.... Washburn Posted October 24, 2007 Report Posted October 24, 2007 Just curious What type of riding do you do and how much area did you cover? Does he have skid plates? when I paint fire escapes I wait a day for the primer to totaly dry sweep off whatever debris that may have accumulated then paint. If not dry it will bubble up after you put the final coats on it. I would do the same for the bike just to be on the safe side. When you paint it Ide also wait a full 24 hours before you ride it. You dont want all sorts of dirt/sand sticking. Quote
peterlocal22 Posted October 24, 2007 Author Report Posted October 24, 2007 thanks ill waite 24 hrs Quote
