ojcool Posted August 23, 2007 Report Posted August 23, 2007 I have a theory that the EPA has totally screwed with the aftermarket world. Have you noticed that all the exhaust companies are only giving main jets with their kits now? I'm realatively new to the ATV world so I don't know if they used to include pilots but when I buy an $80 jet kit I expect to get alot of f'ing jets and pilots. I got five main jets and a needle. I'm thinking that the EPA has cracked down on aftermarket companies telling them they cannot enable customers to screw with the idle a/f ratios but only sell prouducts that will put the fuel into the higher RPM's to keep their prouducts form blowing up engines. Anyone heard anything like that before. I have noticed that HmF and FMf both say "we left the pilot stock" and blah blah main jet and everythings just peachy, but when I have tried to tune like they say my bike runs like total crap down at the bottom because it's too fing lean. I found it on the BruteForce 650sra and this Outlaw 525. Getting pilots is like pulling teeth for these bikes. It seems that the Banshee is one of the few bikes that pilot changes are the norm. I'm getting pegged wideband a/f reading at idle of 22.39:1 at idle and with choke on it only drops into the 19:1's. If that dosen't say pilot I don't know what else does. If it was fuel injected I would expect to see a/f of 15:1 to 19:1 on decel and cruise with no load but not on a carburator. Quote
dajogejr Posted August 23, 2007 Report Posted August 23, 2007 I've never been a fan of Jet kits...too generic. I'd rather buy just the jets I need...through trial and error. No jet kit I've ever seen for a banshee has ever come with pilots... I'll have to ask some of my four stroke brethren if theirs comes with pilots. I think they're the same as me, research...and buy the jets they think they need, tune in from there... Quote

dajogejr Posted August 23, 2007 Report Posted August 23, 2007 Now that you mentioned it homie....my bud did get the HRC kit for his before he went hog wild with a huge motor, I know it came with a gutted air box lid, cam and a different end cap for the stock can. I know it came with jets, I'm not sure which/how many and what kind, though.... I'm due to call him and tell him he's gay and a slow 4 stroker....I'll try to remember to ask him... Quote
