I got my first banshee yesterday and am pumped to get it out. Its a 1993 with works front end, laeger swing arm, dyna port exaust, bead lock rims and a bunch of engine upgrades. I paid $500 for it because the guy wanted it out of his ex-wifes garage and he had no where to put it. It has been sitting for about a year and it was not well taken care of but for $500 who cares. I got it home and took the carb off and took the jets out and boiled everything out. I put it back together and it started on the second kick  The problem is that it will not idle. I adjusted the idle on the choke both ways and nothing. It sounds great just no idle. Any ideas. Thanks for the help.

You simply raise the slides by adjusting the carb tops. That'll keep her running..

$500 buck??? Damn.. I wish good deals like that would come my way.

Good come up

I did not mean to post this question twice. The first on I cancelled because it was posting slow but I guess it went through. I think I need this answer clarified. I only have one carb, and adjust the carb tops? I don't know what that means, can you explain that in idiot term for me

there should be a brass screw in the side with a locknut on it, if it has one, tighten it in to raise idle. did you mess with or remove the air screws? What all did you take apart on it cleaning?

I took the air screw out when I cleaned it, before I took it out I screwed it all the way in and counted the turns to tight, then did the same when I replaced it, about 2 turns out. I took the jets out and the float off also. When I let off the throttle it is like I am hitting the kill switch, it shuts right off.

Ok, you replaced everything as it was. As said above, there's a gold screw that you screw in to open airflow thru the carb. Try that first. Did you uncrew carb top and take anything out? Follow throttel to top of carb & should have adjustment to help raise that slide & should help too.

It is a keihin carb, I have no idea what jets are in it. The guy I bought it from did not do any of the work on it and he has very little knowledge of what was done to the engine. The only thing he told me is that it has to run on race fuel because of the engine upgrades. Maybe I should just get a new one. Should I be running two carbs or what?

It must have a 2-1 carb setup. Stock they use two carbs, but some people like using what you have. It is an aftermakert mod. For now, just get it running by adjusting the carb like people here have said. Does it run good lots of power, just won't idle? Can you give it a little throttle and keep it runnign at the same speed? If so you need to find the idle screw and tunr it in, just like people here have said.
