Nope stupid me didnt locktite the flywheel it came loose and cost me a day of riding (60 miles from home with buds) and a damn stator. Its OK I got a upgraded stator and adjustable timing plate. blowit Posted June 1, 2007 Report Posted June 1, 2007 Damn this shit is killing me. When I first asked if it was ok that I dint use lock tite and the frist couple people said that I was good to go, I was like hell yea peace of mind. Just spent all this loot on the rebuild and $30 on this leak down tester $100 something on a torque wrench now I have to get a impact gun and flywheel puller too, man this is breaking my pocket. I think I will try to get a hold of a flywheel puller and torque wrench from a buddy and If I cant Im going to take my chances running it like it is now :: Everyone has their own flavor but you can bet if I tell you one way, someone will tell you otherwise. We build countless motors and on a taper shaft like that, the taper was designed to lock the flywheel in position once tightened. We do , however, install everything with an impact to about 60ftlbs. We have yet to replace a key. Getting the nut tight is more critical than using thread lock. If you do decide to take the nut off, why would you remove the flywheel?? If you put locker on, use blue. not red. Brandon Quote

I guess I dont need a flywheel puller but I would still need a impact gun to get the nut off which I dont have. Its cool thow WALLACE84 is going to use his impact gun to get it off, I will probly take a cruze over there sometime tomorrow. I would rather be safe than sorry If the flywheel ever did come off.
