Bansh-eman Posted May 29, 2007 Report Posted May 29, 2007 yea do it right if u have the time and tools. i got lucky with the penny and plates. but i was out where i didnt have tools so i had no othr choice... the tool looks like a vice grip with two bent metal bars on it... you clamp it down to the innre hub and put the nut on... no slip no broken parts lol Quote
bentvalve Posted May 29, 2007 Report Posted May 29, 2007 +1 for the right tools.i love spending money.lol don Quote
96_banshee_96 Posted May 29, 2007 Author Report Posted May 29, 2007 I dint buy the tool. All I did was bunch the chain on like it was going to break the cases, But I put my rubber squegie thing i use to tint windows between the case and the chain to take the pressure off the case. Put it into 6th gear and torqued it very slowly 10lbs at a time worked fine for me. Quote
IROOST1 Posted May 30, 2007 Report Posted May 30, 2007 I have tried everything on this subject including ruining a clutch basket gear by jamming shit inbetween the gears. Dont do that. Either go to yamaha and get the tool or make your own out of old clutch plates. I made mine with three fibers and three steel drilled through and bolted together. Works great. Ill send you mine for $20 shipped or ill send you some old plates to make your own for $7 shipped. Also, get yourself a torque wrench. Its the only way to get it right. I have tried the air ratchet to get it. It only gets it to about 40 ft lbs before the whole thing spins. Quote
Leadfoot350 Posted May 31, 2007 Report Posted May 31, 2007 I use the penny also but make sure its an old one. The new ones are not full copper. I cant remember how old they have to be. Quote
