belmead Posted May 21, 2007 Report Posted May 21, 2007 Hey there I just bought a 99 banshee. its basically stock except for pipes and jets. When I get on a straight run the acceleration is very slow, and when I get to 6th gear it loses revs and starts to slow down drastically. I can go faster in 4th than 6th Some times the throttle lags as well and almost stalls out the quad in 1st. Ive had it at a shop and they adjusted the mid range needles and checked the compression. The shop tells me nothing is wrong with the quad but clearly there is. The throttle cable has some appoxy on it as a quick fix from the owner before me. Any ideas what could be wrong with it? Should I replace the throttle cbale assy? Could it be the clutch or the gears? Thanks in advance!! Quote
Bansh88 Posted May 22, 2007 Report Posted May 22, 2007 Is this your first quad? If so, you might not be revving the engine out enough through the gears. Maybe shifting too soon? Just a simple thought if you're new to it. 6th gear is rarely an option for me. 60% of the time I go for 6th, I need to immediately drop back down to 5th. Quote
CRAZY-SHEE! Posted May 22, 2007 Report Posted May 22, 2007 is your tors removed? also alot or problems new owners have with quads is not realizing when your brakes are rubbin. try and push it in neautral. does it roll? any holes in the exaust pipes? you said your compression was ok.. how much was it? Check for a strong spark. ( you do this by removing the spark plugs and kicking it over a few times while theyre connected to see if they ahve a spark. is it strong? lastly id check your reeds. thats the final problem u could have if u checked everything. ( other than what the guy above me said) thats all i can think of now. Quote
Bansh88 Posted May 22, 2007 Report Posted May 22, 2007 Didn't think of the parking brake thing. Happened to me once before I knew about it. i thought my Shee was broke! That would make it run like an absolute piece of shit. Sometimes it's stuck, sometimes just having dsome sand or grit in the handlebar assembly can junk it up. In my case, I just blew out some sand. Dinner Posted May 22, 2007 Report Posted May 22, 2007 Are your tires and gearing all stock as well? Maybe your gearing is higher, and since you don't have the power to pull it, you can't go fast. Quote
MDS2106 Posted May 22, 2007 Report Posted May 22, 2007 More than likely you are to rich on the main jet........ Quote
