race-a-holic Posted May 10, 2007 Report Posted May 10, 2007 This has nothing to do with quads but thought you guys should know. I'm the type of person that almost never gets sick.I've never stayed in the hospital over night for myself being sick. Well,I just got out of the hospital after being there 2 days. I had all kinds of tests done, had to see a specialist,etc... I had it about a month ago and my doctor and I thought it was gone. First time I had to go to the ER also. Well,it wasn't completely gone and hammered me again this time putting me in the hospital. Symptoms is severe diarreah, severe stomach cramping,etc... It's awful and severly painful. If you get this, especially if it last longer than a day or 2."GET TO YOU DOCTOR" I most likely will end up missing a month of work. My doctor said what might have happened was that someone had it. They didn't wash there hands after using the restroom and put the germ on something. Just touching something an infected person has touched can pass it to you. He said I probably got the germ on my hands. When I went to eat,I put the germ on the food and it went into my system. Just make sure you wash your hands before you eat, been out in the public,etc... It's extremely bad if not fatal on elderly people and young kids. If you get it and get treated,a follow up with the doctor would be a great idea. Not trying to scare anyone.Just trying to get the word out. Quote

I'm very thankful my pregnant wife and 3 year old hasn't got it. My doctor said if my wife caught it,it could actually put her in early labor. Quote

race-a-holic Posted May 10, 2007 Author Report Posted May 10, 2007 I have read that there's some stuff in yogurt called Acidophilus (I think) that will help. That may help prevent this condition(C-DIFF). Quote
RNBRAD Posted May 10, 2007 Report Posted May 10, 2007 Problem is 99% of the people, when they do wash their hands in a restaurant setting, they do not wash them correctly. I've gone around several times to day care facilities when we have outbreaks of stool born illnesses to teach just that. Problem is when a person goes to a public facility to wash their hands they generally come out with dirtier hands than with what they started with. When we go to wash our hands in a public bathroom we 1st touch the faucet handle with our dirty hands. We wash our hands and then we touch that dirty faucet to turn it off. Then we grab the towell dispencer to eject some towels, then we grab the knob to open the door. Guess what? now we have everyones germs on our hands that has used the facility previously. 1st thing, when you walk into a bathroom, eject or lay out some paper towels. Do your business then wash your hands, grab a paper towel as a barrier to turn off the water and open the door. Now just shoot the towel in the can or throw it on the floor. Quote
