pokeatyou2 Posted May 4, 2007 Report Posted May 4, 2007 i want to try and polish my cylinder jugs. i rebuild my banshee 2 months ago. i brought some new base gaskets will i be ok to take the jugs off polish them, then once the are polished wash them out (really good) then with the new gaskets just slip the jugs back on? Oh and if your pulling then cylinders off it doesn't hurt to re-ring it saying the motors not freshly rebuilt. Quote

Oh and if your pulling then cylinders off it doesn't hurt to re-ring it saying the motors not freshly rebuilt. the pistons are only 2 months old as i said in the first post and i have only had 4 rides on them some i really think re-ringing them is pointless. and the base gaskets are brand new never used i brought them so i could replace the one on there at the moment after i ripp the jugs off. the main reason i was asking for was becasue i didnt know if you guys would recommend a hone after i was finished or just clean them up good and gently and wack them back on Quote

That is going to look great. Exactly...reuse the pistons and rings, use new gaskets everytime....and use hot soapy water to clean the jugs when you're done. You want to be able to take a white cloth to the cylinders (inside) and not have any kind of oil, dirt, residue, etc. on the white cloth at all...should be squeaky clean. Then...light, LIGHT coat of two stroke oil to help but it all back together...don't go nuts with it. Quote
