2004LEBanshee Posted May 1, 2007 Report Posted May 1, 2007 Probably some questions that will get me some smart a$$ feed back but Im giving it a shot. I got SB CPI inframes. Now there supposed to be in frame drag pipes, right? Is it possible to run them with out the silencers effectivly that is? I mean they dont look too much differnt then out frame pipes. Also if this is so can you run the silencers with out packing and be as effective HP wise I know on my FMF's it was believed to hurt power. Another question. When I had my old set up it originaly was jetted poorly and would have wet oil on the silencer tips. I was told it was too rich I jetted acordingly and fixed it and it never did it again. Is this the case with CPI's could your jetting be on and still have a wet exhaust tip. Thanks Quote
fastbanshee8 Posted May 1, 2007 Report Posted May 1, 2007 Running an inframe pipe, without silencers, or packing will hurt the performance of the pipe. The pipes were designed to be ran with silencers, and packing, besides that, having the exhaust dumping out under the seat, and plastic, would probably make a mess, plus melt the plastic. IMO, CPI's are loud enough with the silencers on, so why would you want to remove them, or the packing? It's stuff like that, that causes problems, and gets riding areas shut down. A lot of places already have decible limits for exhausts. Don't run without packing, or silencers, because you're just giving the anti-ATV people one more thing to bitch about. Quote

The pipes are designed with the backpressure of silencers and stinger tubes. get pipes designed to run out of frames...or spend your money somewhere else. Besides, out of frame vs. in frame HP gain is very minimal...normally 1 to 4 HP or so. Out of frames were designed for a few reasons...and these are not all of them, only a few. 1. Easier to work on the engine 2. Less heat near the motor/intakes, no need to worry about melting air filters, outerwears, etc. 3. A little more free flowing than inframes.... Again, not all the reasons, but common ones. Inframes are generally more expensive due to more bends and silencers... Sell what you got and get true out of frames if that's what you're looking for...
