tonyown Posted April 28, 2007 Report Posted April 28, 2007 My question is: with the mods listed in my signature, would I be able to run 15 teeth front sproket without loosing too much acceleration? I still have stock gears and I like my acceleration but dont like my top speed (aprox 115 km/h) I know i'd just have to try it to answer my question but I'd like your opinion first thank you Quote
Snopczynski Posted April 28, 2007 Report Posted April 28, 2007 (edited) If you go up teeth in the front, your acceleration will suffer and your top speed will higher. For better acceleration you go down in the front, or up in the back. Dont go below a 13 in the front though, that will be hard on your chain sliders. 1 tooth in the front is equivelant to 3 teeth in the back. Edited April 28, 2007 by Snopczynski Quote
tonyown Posted April 28, 2007 Author Report Posted April 28, 2007 hum k the question is: do you think acceleration would be acceptable with a 15 tooth front sproket with my mods? First time I asked about that people told me I didnt have enough mods and it'd be a pain to accelerate... wanted your opinion with my new setup Quote
Snopczynski Posted April 29, 2007 Report Posted April 29, 2007 Well, thats probably something you need to decide for yourself. It ought to pull the lower gears no problem. Usually it will make the gears longer though, and have a hard time pulling 5th and 6th. Honestly, the only people I know that run really tall gearing like that have stroker motors. Quote
tonyown Posted April 29, 2007 Author Report Posted April 29, 2007 Okay that answer my question... ty Quote
06BaNsHeE Posted April 29, 2007 Report Posted April 29, 2007 Go up to 15.Less shifting and a better ride imo.Wow down here EVERYONE has 17/38 16/38.Not only the strokers.I run 16/40 now and will be running 17/39 with my cub. Quote
locogato11283 Posted April 29, 2007 Report Posted April 29, 2007 if you dont wanna go up a whole tooth up front then drop 1 or 2 in the rear.. Quote

06BaNsHeE Posted April 29, 2007 Report Posted April 29, 2007 Yup.I launch of second HARD with 20 inch tires and my 215 pound ass Quote
shee rips Posted April 29, 2007 Report Posted April 29, 2007 unless you do lots of real tight trails where you're riding the clutch in first gear to go slow enough, I would go for it. you shouldnt have a problem pulling taller gears. my friend went to a 15 tooth and said that it was like an extra gear. first became like 2nd was, 2nd lik 3rd..... you have more mods than me. i have pipes and a k&n for now a and i want to get a 15. Quote
shee rips Posted April 29, 2007 Report Posted April 29, 2007 how much top speed would i lose if i went from 22 inch tires to 20s or vice versa? Quote
