I just tore down one side of my motor and found that the piston is scored on four sides like it was cold seized. My cylinder doesnt look bad but not sure. Should I hone that one cylinder out and put the same size piston back in or should I bore both out and put the next size pistons in? The last 4 #s on the piston are 6500. Does that mean they are 10 thousands over stock? I tried to post some pics but it says I cant upload a jpeg file. So if someone can post them for me or just wants to see them I will send them to you. Thanks in advance for the help.

a hone will just give you enough scratch to breakin new rings unless you have alot of time to spend. If the scrapes are deep,. you might need to bore em. when shops bore,. they dont do a full bore and then hone,. the hone finishes the size, but its a machine doing it faster than a guy with a drill.

I had Jeff at FAST do my bore on my 1989 Banshee. It wasn't very much, and he did a great job.

It's worth it if you're second guessing the jug walls. It would suck if you spent all that money on new pistons, gaskets, fluid, and labor, and found out that you needed a bore.

Good luck man!

Yup, peace of mind and the correct tolerances (sp?) are a good thing.
