Im gunna get some paul turner mids within the next couple weeks and had a couple questions... I dont really what chrome cause im not all about the shinny look. Plus ill be buying them new and they want 218 extra to chrome plate them.

Does anyone run bare metal mids or would they rust fairly quickly?

get black powdercaoting or something black

or a gunmetal powdercoating

Get them chrome. Bare metal will rust really fast. Black powder coating is going to be a pain to keep clean. Ever have a black car? You get any kind of water on them and they will water spot and bake on there.

Chrome is a tough surface. When you get a little burnt on oil on the out side, around where it conects to the engine. Get some 000, or 0000 steelwool, soak it down with some acetone and scrub away. Try doing that to any powdercoated or ceramic coated pipe. The coating will come right off. If you dont chrome them now, it will cost a lot later if you run the pipes and decide to have them chrome plated, if you can find some body that will do used pipes. They have to be cleaned out so they are spotless other wise they will contaminate there solution tanks.

If price is the problem I wouldnt sugest getting them ceramic coated. My single exhaust header on my raptor cost $150 dollars to have jet hot coat it. It is a pretty safe bet that one side of the banshee takes more coaing than my raptors exhaust. It is hard enought keeping it clean from just water and a little dirt. I absolutly dont go mud bogging.

I'd get chrome. I had bare T-5's once and I'll never have a bare pipe again. I painted them with Hi-Temp paint and it flaked off and looked like shit again. Chrome is very durable and the chrome that you get on the PT's is the best looking chrome job I've ever had. I like the chrome better then my show chormed shearers.

I would be getting them powdercoated high temp gloss black. I would use the same company that dajogejr (the guy with the red cases) used on his cases. Its a very high quality powdercoat.

Get the Chrome plating...it is top notch chrome and pretty low maintenance actually I've very pleased...one thing I do recommend is getting the "quiet" silencer tips. why? well the quiet silencer tips are made from stainless and won't corrode or anything like that, now with the regular pipe ends after all the oil, dirt grime gets on there a few times the end caps start lookin horribly like shift and there is nothing you can do to clean it off.. they are like a magnesium color with like little spots of rust all over them but it's not rust and wont come off.......

Do you guys think that the powdercoating in the link above will hold up?

climbanyhill and a few others painted their t'5s with high temp black paint with good results. Not sure why some people's flake off.

I had my PT mids and silencers hit with high temp black PC, holds up fine, looks nice and low key, and holds up well in the mud/salt here in NJ heres a pick before they went on my bike.
