What is the little plastic thing called that a case saver goes over in the cases back by the sproket. I need the short screws to use with no case saver but cant find what that is called.

If I'm not mistaking yamaha calls it a nuetral switch cover in there parts finder online.

 

It's only a neutral switch cover if you have a newer bike. If you have an older Clymer's it's called a shift drum cover as there was no such thing as a neutral safety switch.

About half way down the page at the above link you will see where Quicksand calls it a shift drum cover as well. :drag:

At the above link you will see where Cascade calls it a neutral safety switch cover. Either way, they are the same thing.

 

Now the real question is: Who wants to buy me one of those covers from Cascade or Quicksand? :ohmy:

wait i thought that comes off to put a case saver on??? i didnt think the case save will fit with it on... but either way case savers do work and are a good way to spend $20. my chain broke and if not for the case saver i would have been fu@@ed.. the case saver was trashed but my case is still in one piece

I put my case savers on over the top of the shift drum cover. I think if you removed the cover and installed a case saver, you may find yourself with a leaky transmission. :confused:

moral of 2 stories keep old short screws incase you sell it :biggrin: or trash it you can still ride

I always keep the screws or anything for that matter, the stupid case deal was on there when i got it. Thats why I didnt have them. :beer:
