crbanshee Posted March 20, 2007 Report Posted March 20, 2007 i had the carbs off the bike and taken to a local mechanic to clean the jetts, got it home put back together throttle was stuck wide open. pulled the carb cap and one slide was not in right so put it in right now carb sounds like it is sucking air. bike wont stay running if i just try to let it idle and when it is running it popps and back fires on the right side only? the only thing i have done to the carbs is re jett and add the new caps to accept a twist throttle but that was 2 years ago. i tried to do a redneck style leak test and sprayed starter fluid in areas around the carb when the bike was running figuering that if it was sucking in air it would suck the starter fluid in and the rpm would come up..no luck didnt work..any one have any clue why it would act like this. i have never had one problem with this bike. bought it brand new in 04 and to this day not 1 issue other than normal maintenance..stock carbs, 310 main, they are clean as new..im stumped and i have a race comming up on sunday the 25th.. bansheeseat$$ Posted March 20, 2007 Report Posted March 20, 2007 Check that you put the crossover hose back on.Make sure the slides are in the right carbs. Quote
Bansh-eman Posted March 20, 2007 Report Posted March 20, 2007 might sound kinda obviose but did you make sure that you seated the carb all the way into the intake and tighten it down all the way? also take a look at your rubber intake... they might have dried out and cracked through... Quote
Washburn Posted March 20, 2007 Report Posted March 20, 2007 Rite make sue everything is sealed up nice and tight. check both of your slides notched end twoards the air box. Check your floats they may be sticking and make sure they are getting fuel, crossover tube, if you take them apart again blow the jets out with air and use that carb cleaner to clean them so not even a spec of dirt is in them, and turn in your idle screws all the way in then turn hem both out to 1/12 then go from 1/2 incriment turns from there. yamaha04 Posted March 20, 2007 Report Posted March 20, 2007 try new plugs and while they are out check your compression Quote
crbanshee Posted March 22, 2007 Author Report Posted March 22, 2007 try new plugs and while they are out check your compression got it figured out, it turned out that the tube that connects the carbs (right behind the choke) was bad. and the fuel wasnt going to the left carb. replaced the tube and she is running awesome now Quote
