Kwietshee Posted January 3, 2007 Report Posted January 3, 2007 hey all heres my problem, bike starts up fine 2-3 kicks, I can take off from idle without giving it any gas at all, but then if i try to get on it -it sounds like it boggs out and wont rev up . If I slowly pick up speed it will eventually take off and rip like it should- for about 3-4 seconds then it falls on its face as if I let go of gas, after 2-3 seconds of nothing you can hear right side cylinder cutting in an out, left cylinder sounds like its running ok- but it revs up slow until it up to a certain rpm and takes off again for 3-4 seconds. if I try to rev bike in neutral it sounds like revs to 2000 rpm and stops, I have to snap throtle a couple of times to get it to rev up , but if I dump the clutch while its reved up it boggs out. it started doing it at glamis halloween weekend, brought it home and checked compression, 130-135 both cylinders, checked an cleaned both carbs-needle clip on 4th from top,340 mains, stock pilots, slides are correct(cutaway to filter) checked reeds-no cracks or bends, checked for air leaks and found none, replaced my coil, replaced plugs about 4 times checked gap on flywheel pickup. cant do a plug chop cause bike wont run good enough, took the bike out 2 weeks ago to see it ran better after rejetting from 350 to 340 mains and new coil-bike ran fine but I was only able to run about 15 minutes due a very windy day and I had to load up my bike for glamis, well got out to glamis last wednsday and bike ran like crap so I sat at camp for 6 days while my bike stared at me, I was temped to push it into the fire on new years eve, thanx for any help in advance. P.S. Im only takin one more shot at fixin this thing- next step is a four stroke, please help Quote
HardIzZlE Posted January 3, 2007 Report Posted January 3, 2007 i dont care about your problem but your sig is hot wanna make me 1  Quote
Handyman Posted January 3, 2007 Report Posted January 3, 2007 Did you do any mods or anything right before this started happening?? Can you give us some more info on your engine mods, if any?? If it ran better after dropping main jet sizes try droping another size or try putting in a bigger pilot. Like a 27.5. Quote
Banshee4Drag Posted January 3, 2007 Report Posted January 3, 2007 340 main sounds WAY to big if you only have KandN done...try like 210...make sure the Choke tube is on no cracks, and the crossover tube. Try that for air leaks....But please change that jet 340 sounds huge, but you did not list ur mods or evel.. Quote

Kwietshee Posted January 3, 2007 Author Report Posted January 3, 2007 well I added the T5s and advanced the timing +4, I actually asked on here for jetting suggestions and every one pretty much said to go with 350 mains & stock pilot. it ran great for the first time I took it out but the second time I took it out was to glamis and it started doing it there then got worse. choke tube was also replaced. My elevation is about 800-900 feet, and any time I take carbs apart is one at a time, also jugs are dune ported. Quote
FredMW Posted January 3, 2007 Report Posted January 3, 2007 Did you check to make sure it's getting fuel? Did you put a new timeing plate in, if so check to make sure you didn't pinch the stator wires. Quote
okbeast Posted January 4, 2007 Report Posted January 4, 2007 I'm at the same elevation with similar mods (T-5's and pods) and am running around a 320 main. Is Glamis a big elevation increase from where you live? I don't think jetting is the problem tho with it doing the cutting out thing, sounds more like electrical. I'd try tracing wires to see if something's grounding out somewhere. Quote

Ive cleaned the tank pickup tubes, pekock, replaced fuel line, and filter, both bowls fill with fuel.I did the stock plate mod- but I was very careful when I put it all back together, but it wouldnt hurt to double check my work. Im not sure what elevation glamis is but I hear its about the same as sea level, ill provably try going down a couple of jet sizes if I cant find any shorts. I also dont have any friends with shees- they all have four strokes, so I cant swap parts with anyone. thanx again Quote

And it might be the ignition coil going out but usually it revs up fine in neutral and it bogs in the higher gears. Quote
fox_forma Posted January 7, 2007 Report Posted January 7, 2007 are you running a fuel filter by chance? My shee kept dying out when i would stab the throttle. Replaced the ign coil and it didn't solve anything. Noticed the bowls would fill with gas but as soon as you tried to get on it the fuel wouldn't keep up and it would die out on me. Pulled the fuel filter and hasn't done it since. Quote
jamesg3710 Posted January 8, 2007 Report Posted January 8, 2007 Hi i had a very simerler fault, try disconecting the wire's that go to the clutch lever/Hand break, there should be a plug just under the fuel tank. I dont know what there for Mabey some kind of rev limiter But my banshee runs fine now, And luckerly enough it was one of the first things i checked. Let me know how you get on Quote
Bansh-eman Posted January 8, 2007 Report Posted January 8, 2007 sounds alot like my problem when i switched carbs... the float height was set wrong and the carbs wasnt getting fuel... might check and see if your carbs are cleaned and the float seats are clean... Quote
BigRed350x Posted January 8, 2007 Report Posted January 8, 2007 Just a thought, but when was the last time you did a compression check? Pull your plugs and kick it over somewhere dark and look at your plugs and be sure you are getting consistant, hot spark action. Quote

Ill check float level and clean carbs best I possibly can. Just a thought, but when was the last time you did a compression check? I did a comp check just before I left for Glamis and it was 130 & 135, I was always told a blue spark is good and thats what I got . I will work on it tomorrow and get back to you guys with my findings. Thanx to all  Quote
