floydfan_90 Posted December 25, 2006 Report Posted December 25, 2006 Ok heres my story bought my first banshee she Quote
Dinner Posted December 25, 2006 Report Posted December 25, 2006 Does it already have any sorts of mods? If you are planning on getting it ported, bigger carbs...you better be getting good pipes for it. For break in, you can run your fuel/oil ratio lower than you would for normal riding, say 32:1, 28:1 just to help lube everything. Some people will say go out and ride it like you stole it, some will say go out and run it through heat cycles, take it through the gears up and down slowly, gradually giving it more and more throttle over time. This is how i did my break in and my bike is still running strong. The shift star mod allows you to shift your Banshee a lot smoother than what they are stock. And I'm pretty sure you will be good to use your aftermarket parts during break in. Just make sure you break it in good and seat the rings  Hope this helps a little, but other HQ'rs will chip in as well. Dinner Quote
bansheefreak Posted December 25, 2006 Report Posted December 25, 2006 a dunable over will let it shift with it wot.. but sounds like you need several other mods before you worry bout an dunable... Quote
floydfan_90 Posted December 25, 2006 Author Report Posted December 25, 2006 I just pulled my motor out and apart only got the head, cylinders and clutch I need a flywheel puller to continue im splitting the case and checking everything. I found out that at the vary least im going to need is new pistons and to get the cylinders trued and new crank and rod bearings. im also going to put a clutch in her. And yes Quote
2003LimitedBanshee Posted December 25, 2006 Report Posted December 25, 2006 Depending on what kind of riding you do, (what kind by the way?) you may very likely want to reconsider those FMF's. I know a decent amount of people swear by them, and they are better for a bit more bottom end, but you will find much more top end power with several other pipe choices. I would wager that about the only thing you will hear most anyone recommend FMF's for are a woods ported trail bike. Any type of sand, drag etc. and you have better choices out there. Albeit, you have pipes now, and they are far better than stock, but something to consider for down the road and something you should consider in the future mods you have planned. Quote
