dajogejr Posted December 18, 2006 Report Posted December 18, 2006 Yeah, please take the caps lock off, that's the equivalent of shouting on the net. What have you just done recently? Jetting, electrical, car wash (pressure wash)....spark plugs? I know you are in the midst of gathering Ideas on how to beat your buddies raptor...but, have you done anything to the bike at all? Quote
fastbanshee8 Posted December 18, 2006 Report Posted December 18, 2006 You're lean. Check for air leaks, as mentioned before, clean your carbs, adjust air mixture screws, or re-jet. I wouldn't be starting it, until you find the problem, otherwise you might be doing an unexpected top-end rebuild. Quote

I wouldn't be starting it, until you find the problem, otherwise you might be doing an unexpected top-end rebuild. That would be my first thought...however... A shorted wire, failing coil and/or failing stator can provide similar results. Weak spark will make it more evident for higher RPMs. A quick check of the plug should tell you something. If the jetting isn't suspect, start tracing wires for bad ground, frayed wires, etc. By the way.... Did you recently remove the TORS? That can cause some problems, too!! Quote
DADEBOYRACER101 Posted December 18, 2006 Author Report Posted December 18, 2006 i just did the jetting. it was running perfect Quote
dajogejr Posted December 18, 2006 Report Posted December 18, 2006 I'd start looking electrical then. Could've got moisture behind the flywheel at the stator, pickup coil, etc. Could even be something real simple like bad plug cap leads from the coil, they're known to go bad, and new NGK plug cap ends are less than 10 bucks a piece.... As said, bad or weak spark will make it pop/miss in higher RPMs. Does it have a timing plate? Is it too far advanced or retarded? What about a flywheel key, possible it sheared? Quote
DADEBOYRACER101 Posted December 19, 2006 Author Report Posted December 19, 2006 i check the ignition coil why isnt it getting any spark Quote
DADEBOYRACER101 Posted December 21, 2006 Author Report Posted December 21, 2006 i try 2 kick it while i hold the spark plug and it dnt do nothing Quote
Washburn Posted December 21, 2006 Report Posted December 21, 2006 i try 2 kick it while i hold the spark plug and it dnt do nothing Did you hold the spark plug electrode againt something (Motor head ect) If not thats why. A bad coil would explain it misfireing would cause it to backfire. Try new caps first if not try a new coil. If you have the extra hundred or so dollars Ive heard really good things about the Nology Coil. Quote
