ALTVATER Posted December 6, 2006 Report Posted December 6, 2006 I just got my banshee rebuilt with a 4 mill 421 cheetah. it is supposed to push over 90 hp. i was wondering what setup i need for this motor? such as, swinger, gears, and hauler paddles!?!?! i want to be able to dune this bike and also be able to go to the drag strip and launch hard. i was thinking about a +4 swing with 22x8 10 paddle haulers with 72 roll. gearing i was thinking 15 41. if anyone has a similar bike please help me. i have heard so many different things i have no idea. i really don't want to have to order 2 kinds of everything to see what works the best. the last person i talked to told me i needed a +8. so now i am worried, i want to be able to launch hard without being on my ass. sheefreak Posted December 6, 2006 Report Posted December 6, 2006 +8 would be perfect. I run a Stock cyl, 4 mill, drag port that dynod at 85 horse. I run 15/42 gearing, +6 swinger, 9 paddle b2b, 69 rollout haulers. I am skyward every launch, but I usually don't have to let out of it. The four will definately not work. Only problem w/the +8 is that it gets a hair excessive for duneing. I would run +8, 10 paddle, 15/41 or 40 to try and keep it as duneable as possible. Quote

With that big of a motor I'd be looking for at least a +8, stock gearing will work no problem, you're going to need 12 paddle extremes to hook that much power to the ground Quote
sheefreak Posted December 6, 2006 Report Posted December 6, 2006 Paddles depend on the the length of swingarm as well as the amount of power. If he were just going to drag it, and going for a more controllable consistant launch, he could run a 10 and that would require more paddle to hook up w/the longer swinger. Quote
locogato11283 Posted December 6, 2006 Report Posted December 6, 2006 ur gonna have issues launching hard with a +4 and 10 paddle haulers..if you go much longer than +4 youre gonna start having duning issues. id say +6 with 10 paddle haulers is about where youre gonna end up. still be able to handle the bike pretty well and be able to line up and drag it. Geoff Posted December 6, 2006 Report Posted December 6, 2006 A guy I know has a 4mil cheetah like yours that dyno'd 103. He's running +6 swinger 22-11-8 10 pdl with the Kevlar blades. It will still pull the front end but is still very dunable with a +6. Much more and like Loco said you'll have duning issue. Quote

locogato11283 Posted December 7, 2006 Report Posted December 7, 2006 FAST got some pretty good deals. when i was lookin for my 14 paddle haulers i couldnt find them anywhere. jeff got them for me at a good price. same with some sandstars for the 450. give him a call. 1-785-364-5325 or pm him on here. FASTOYS. Quote
Animalman294 Posted December 7, 2006 Report Posted December 7, 2006 Yeah, Jeff built my motor and his recomendations for my riding, which is pretty much what you do. I have the 421 cub, with a +6 with extra gussets for support for duning. He recommended to keep the stock gearing for now 14 41 and I am getting the 21x12x8 9 paddle comp cut Padla Brats. This should be a really good set-up for what I am doing and from the sounds of things what you are doing. Like Loco said give Jeff at FAST a call and see what he can hook you up with........... Quote
dajogejr Posted December 7, 2006 Report Posted December 7, 2006 Had the same combo...10 paddle haulers, 6 over, 4mil cub on gas. If you're good on the clutch and practice your launch...you can control it at the strip...but, in the dunes....yeah, wheelie central just about any time you want. I rode stock gearing, 14/41 and launched in second. You're gonna want an override and lockup clutch for that motor if you plan on doing any real racing. You put that many ponies to a stock tranny...it ain't shifting. A dunable override is just what you need. There's a video of me launching mine at Silver Lake, one of the very few times I was actually able to shift through the gears (Lockup and Override on the way...)...in the Videos section. DG vs. JT I think is the name of it. Quote
ALTVATER Posted December 8, 2006 Author Report Posted December 8, 2006 yeah i am getting a lockup setup but i don't think i am going to change my tranny at this point. i checked out my tranny and it is still in good shape. so i figure a lockup will help me save it. Quote
Bansh-eman Posted December 8, 2006 Report Posted December 8, 2006 well your going to hav a hell of a time pulling the clutch to shift with just a lockup... if you have the money you should invest in a dunebale override... if not get a modded star and the shift pro mod... Quote
dajogejr Posted December 8, 2006 Report Posted December 8, 2006 It really doesn't matter if the tranny is in good shape or not. Mine is in great shape. When you take a tranny designed to handle 33 to 35 HP stock, and triple that...it ain't going to shift very good, period. Get the override and lockup...or just leave it as is. I honestly think you're totally wasting your cash on a lockup without an override.... Quote
ALTVATER Posted December 9, 2006 Author Report Posted December 9, 2006 yeah i probably will but damn i am getting into spending a lot of money. oh well i guess if u want the power u have to spend the cash. Quote
