Fre530d Posted November 22, 2006 Report Posted November 22, 2006 Hello guys So can anyone who has a coolant bottle relocator give me the measurements of that thing. That would be nice because i want to make my own. Thx in advance Fred  Quote
Bansh-eman Posted November 22, 2006 Report Posted November 22, 2006 you dont need the over flow bottle... just take the rubber hose form the rad cap and run it down your frame... pull the bottle off completely.. Quote
Fre530d Posted November 23, 2006 Author Report Posted November 23, 2006 I will do that. Will it not harm anything or spoil coolant? Fred Quote
3 Posted November 23, 2006 Report Posted November 23, 2006 Its just an expansion tank, so if you run your hose down the frame it will only spill on the ground if its overflows. Quote
Animalman294 Posted November 23, 2006 Report Posted November 23, 2006 Most people take it off and don't even use it, but you need to keep an eye on your water level............. Quote
Fre530d Posted November 23, 2006 Author Report Posted November 23, 2006 I am going to use it because it's easy to check coolant level. Can someone PLS give me the measurements. THX fred Quote
Dmcbanshee Posted November 23, 2006 Report Posted November 23, 2006 Most people take it off and don't even use it, but you need to keep an eye on your water level............. Word. Remove it completely and keep an eye on your water level. Quote
RIPPEN Posted November 24, 2006 Report Posted November 24, 2006 I am going to use it because it's easy to check coolant level. Can someone PLS give me the measurements. THX fred Cant really help you either as I have ditched my bottle too... Don't be afraid to get rid of it. I did early last season and therfore had a full season of duning with no problems. Every once in a great while it would get hot a blow a little out but not bad.. This actually can help work as a warning sign. If your bike is blowing out ALLOT of coolant then you would know that you may have a problem somewhere. Otherwise as I stated before, I would only loose a little coolant under really high temps and when I did it was noticeable and easy to keep track of.. RIPPEN Quote

Bansh-eman Posted November 25, 2006 Report Posted November 25, 2006 the ovrflow bottle wont give you an idea of the amount of fluid in your radiator... its simply and overflow catch... and once its in there it dosent go back into your radiator... so no point in having it... Quote
ClimbAnyHill Posted November 25, 2006 Report Posted November 25, 2006 i'm ditchin' mine too.. just remember to check your fluid levels before going out for that ride! Quote
csrmel Posted November 25, 2006 Report Posted November 25, 2006 the overflow does indeed send water back up to the radiator. my level in the overflow dropped about an ounce a day when my headgasket was blown. the radiator remained nearly full. Quote
kubiac3 Posted November 25, 2006 Report Posted November 25, 2006 The bottle was designed to re-fill the radiator, BUT it doesnt I relocated mine about 4 years ago with zip ties. Relocating it just made more work, now I have to pull the plastic to get it out of there sometime when im bored. The bottle is kind of like president bush, was designed to do a job but just doesnt pull it off. Quote
locogato11283 Posted November 25, 2006 Report Posted November 25, 2006 i relocated mine to the dumpster.. Quote
Bansh-eman Posted November 25, 2006 Report Posted November 25, 2006 its designed to add water back in... how ever it doesnt becasue the radiator is pressurized.. only way it can create a sucktion is if the radiator is VERY low in which case the amount of fluid in that bottle isnt going to save you...
