robin banx Posted November 12, 2006 Report Posted November 12, 2006 I'M HAVING TROUBLE WITH PERFORMANCE. THE MOTOR IS .100 OVER WITH FORGED SS PISTONS, +4 TIMING KEY, OPEN BOX WITH K&N, 10 MM REED SPACERS, CARBON FLEX REEDS, FMF FATTY/POWERCORE 2. PLUG CHOP WAS WAY LEAN. I'M AT SEA LEVEL USING 4TH POSITION DOWN ON THE NEEDLE, STOCK PILOT JET, AND .290 MAIN JET. CAN SOMEONE PLEASE RELIEVE THIS HEADACHE, I'M TIRED OF GUESSING. Quote
baddsheee Posted November 12, 2006 Report Posted November 12, 2006 Plug chop is only for checking your mains. Make sure you plug chop is done with new plugs and warm the engine up first then put them in. Rev through all the gears and on 6th shut it to off and hold the clutch in. Let it coast to a stop. I would probably go to a 27.5 on the pilot and try the middle clip. What are your temps and your elevation? Quote

If your at sea level you'll need to go bigger on the main and pilot with your mods. I'm running a 360 main and a 30 pilot and 4th position on the needle thats with my mods in my sig, and that setup is for glamis dunes in southern california and sea level. I would try a 320 and 27.5 pilot and leave the needle, also when you did the plug chop how did the shee run? idle-1/4 throttle 1/4-3/4 throttle and wot any bogging, something just didnt seem right?
