Which one is the better bang for the buck? I have heard good things about the Nology coil and its around $130-140. I don't know anyone with either one on a shee but a buddy has A Dyna on his 450 and he likes it's adjustability but it's around $300.

I just ride the dunes and do a little of everythng ie..hill shots, drag, trails, fast group riding thru the dunes. I hate doing things twice so before I buy either I want to hear what you guys have to say.

Thanks Geoff

I'd venture to say a Dyna is a little more important on a 4 stroke because of the rev limiter...etc.

I have both, Dyna and Nology...

I'd say the Dyna offers more bang....the Nology is more insurance.

And I can tell you they both work very, very well together on mine.

coil and ignition arent the same thing at all

the dyna fs is an ajustable timing curve while the nology coil is just better spark.

The dyna box is pretty good but expensive its made to be used on mostly built engines.

The Nology is more of a thing you buy if your coil break or to be used with the dyna box.

If i was you i'd start with a Timing Advance key its a very cheap mod if you dont have one yet.

Already have +4 timing. I know there both different but I think there the only 2 mods you can do the ignition/electrical system as far as power is concerned.

I don't want to buy the coil and have it be crap because I don't have a modified ignition and I don't want to buy a dyna to find out it's not that beneficial on shee's/2-strokes. Not saying this is the case I just like to do stuff once and be done with that item, thats all.

The dyna is the way to go. TO be clear....in order to use the holeshot revlimiter...you need to buy the CD software and cable (100 bucks) or...go to a dyno to get it tuned in.

I've been told some people get 2 to 10 HP extra out of a Dyna once they dial it in with a Dyno. However, until I get results on mine from pre set curves to a custom program, the proof will be in the pudding.

You get better spark energy from the Dyna than a stock CDI...that I promise you. Your bike will actualy run for 1/2 a second even with the ignition killed due to the spark that thing puts out....(from kicking it, I mean) It'll fire a few times.

I wanted all new ignition for my cub motor, I even bought a brand new stator from RS.

I figured everything was stock from 96, last thing I needed to do was troubleshoot electrical problems. My bike is very, very crisp....and I know once I switch to alky, spark will NOT be a problem....

Hows the holeshot rev limiter work exactly. I'm guessing its set strictly for the intial take off only ie...starting line and so on.

Sounds like a good piece, thanks for your guys info so far. It's getting that time of year and want to start doing some mods for next year(I winter ride but everyines out in the summer).

thanks again

YOu can do a ton of things with the Dyna, Nitrous activation, Shift Light, launch limiter...

I've never programmed mine yet, however....

maybe DJblack can answer how the launch control works....

I"m thinking it has to do with when the clutch is pulled in...but, not sure.

Were'd you guys get yours at? I know Cascade has it for around $285.

djackbanshee, how exactly does it work? I don't think I'm understanding. I associate alot to old cars with ignition boxes and stuff and sometimes it crosses me up.....If that makes any sense at all

Found this article http://www.everything2stroke.com/reviews/dyna.php

Dont think of old cars their ignition is not the same system at all, the battery makes the power used to make the fire.

On a banshee its a magneto system, The stator makes the electrical curent that goes in the Ignition box and when the little bump on the rotor wich turns meets the pickup coil on the stator it tells the Ignition box to fire. You can change the timing by using the +4 degree key that makes the rotor meet the stator 4degree before or you can also turn the stator wich does the same thing but these ways are permanent until you stop the bike and take it apart. The dyna ignition allows you to electronically change the timing curve without taking anything apart . It just modifies the settings in the Ignition Box+ bettter spark and a bunch of cool features like clutchless shift and holeshot rev limiter, The holeshot rev limiter is just a switch you put on the clucth and lets say you re doing a drag race, you hold the throttle wide open , the ignition only lets the engine rev lets say 3000 rpm , so when you let go the clutch the throtlle is already wide open and revving. It makes Quicker holeshots.

Good explanation there...Dj....

I removed my tool kit under the seat. I drilled a hole in the back, and placed all the extra wiring (program harness and dip switch (curve selector) in that area....

Yeah, I have to take off my seat to change curves...but, I'm pretty sure I can live with that...:)

Dj, thanks for explaining that makes more sense. One thing though do you have to go back to Zero on your timing plate since you would now be able to adjust it "on the fly" so to speak. My buddy has a Dyna on his YFZ and he has the little switch thing mounted to his bars.

Thanks again

Um...depends. I wouldn't recommend this...but....

Cubs love timing. Since I don't have time to get to a dyno to program it...I put my plate on +8 and the curve on #3 (the most overall advanced)...

My cub loves it!! However, for a stockish motor...I probably wouldn't put nearly that much timing in it...

for this holeshot do you just order the cd to program the dyna and how can i get the cd. thanks for the post i learned a lot
