Racing Lawnmowers?

watching a tv show about racing lawnmowers....they were saying they can make the lawnmowers do 70 mph with just a few tweaks to the motor, well I got a few extra ridiing lawnmowers that I can just do whatever with, I think it would be cool to rip and shred next to a banshee on a riding lawnmower .anybody know anything about this?

isnt that basically like those john deere mowers that u sit on?? my grandpa's goes about 40mph...u could probably tweek those around to go faster. i think a run away lawnmower would have my ass laughing too hard

yeah the riding lawnmowers....lol it would be awesome to see something like that in the dunes or something not to mention the laughs and people looking at you as you fly by them at like 50 on a riding lawnmower lol....

Racing mowers are a blast. I took 2nd place it the points last year at our local track. They don't handle that great but there is nothing like powersliding a riding mower around a corner. Here is our old web site. Our new web site is under construction

so whats the secret? to my understanding the mawnmower guys keep their secrets really good and wont let anybody know, I just want to know how do they make them run so fast?

 

raise the compression? shave head? I don't know you have any info?

they are a very stiff ride ...two laps and it feels like your hips are about to blow out ....i know a local that built a couple go to his web site www.xtremetractorteam.com now this site is for his offroad slow tractors but ask him about setting up a fast one and he will give you the basics

I saw that show also.Thats some crazy stuff!! When they down,they go hard!

Ours are pretty basic. Lose the governor, change the pulleys and bolt the wheels on good. Of course some of us have milled heads, porting, ect.... No suspension, so the ride is a little harsh and the handling is something to be desired. It's cheap fun though but they can get a little twichy at higher speeds.

one way I have heard before, not sure of the truth, is to swap your drive pullies around this giving you taller gearing....

my brother took his pulling tractor up there one year, thing was to heavy for any good, he actually drove that thing from the south camp all the way to the north east corner, then it broke. He had hell getting it back I think he got it to the north camp then sent a truck after it... idiot

those races are pretty cool to watch on tv.

a guy that lives beside my work has a hopped up mower. i followed him up the road one day on the way home doing about 40. some kid on a bicycle was hanging on to the fender getting a free ride. now there's a way to save on gas expenses.
