BigRed350x Posted February 18, 2006 Report Posted February 18, 2006 Well I got home from work early. I am going to split the cases tonight. So far I have all the plastics off, gas tank, clutch cable off, engine mounts off, carbs off, drained coolant, just have to finish letting the oil drain out and I will pull the engine and put her up on the work bench and start tearing it down. I am taking pics all along the way and will post them up here whenever I stop tonight. I should have everthing disasembled tonight and probably drop in the 4mm stroker crank tomarrow some time and put it back together if I find nothing wrong inside. Quote

Its good to have since most 2 stroke bikes/quads use the same one. your only other option is to pry it off with a screw driver, if you manage to get it off you will have to spend $60 on a new flywheel becasue your old one is bent!! I am putting together a page with LOTS of images showing what to do up to this point. I will continue with pictures and descriptions each time i work on it. As long as work doesn't kick my ass this week I should get it split by sunday or so. I will continue to post pictures as i get the pages put together. Look for a post in the mods and repairs section here in about an hour... - Jared oh yeah, a 4mm is just a drop in and reassemble. The pictures of when I put it back together will be really clean. That's all basic stuff. You have to do the clutch stuff to change a clutch so you should get good at that. Wait until the re-assembly when you have to get everything lined up right... fun fun fun. The idler gear and kick starter are fun too. It's all pretty simple once you've done a few. I've done this about 12-15 times since i got into banshee's. We even did this once in the back of a guys truck at walden when he blew a tranny. I changed out his tranny with one another guy had. Try to do it at the sand dunes and keep everything clean. lol Quote
dajogejr Posted February 18, 2006 Report Posted February 18, 2006 Hey...Jared. I sent you a PM about the pictures and step by step... This might be a sticky quality thread...very good info. One tip, which...I may have skimmed over... Once you pull the jugs, stuff a rag into the opening in the cases. You've done enough of these...I'm sure you did or almost had a circlip pop out and drop down into the cases... That'll turn your mood sour in a hurry... Great article, keep it up!! Quote
lowriderb Posted February 19, 2006 Report Posted February 19, 2006 i didnt want to clutter up your other thread, but looks like im building the same size motor as you mine will be done in the next couple of weeks as well as paints and some other shinies.. Quote
locogato11283 Posted February 19, 2006 Report Posted February 19, 2006 splittin cases is so pud. i just toss everything in a pile and then reassemble. once you do it once its easy as fuck every other time. Quote
