Bansheeduner02 Posted February 11, 2006 Report Posted February 11, 2006 Hey im getting the cub cylinders and a 5mm crank with a 4mm longer stroke would i really need a longer swingarm i was thinking about a +1 or something cuz its going to be a desert racing bike and a duner. any ideas? Quote
Wallrat Posted February 11, 2006 Report Posted February 11, 2006 (edited) Well most numbers I've seen for a 4mm cub put it around 90+HP. For that I'd recommend at least a +4 swingarm. If you wanna keep the swingarm short for better handling why get cubs? A 4mm w/ stock cyls is still gonna run like a raped ape. I've got a 4mm with a mild dune port on stock cyls and I can't keep the front end down on the stock swinger. I'm hoping that I can get away with a +2. Edited February 11, 2006 by Wallrat Quote
FasterThanU90 Posted February 11, 2006 Report Posted February 11, 2006 i just bough a bitchin +6 for mine Quote
1redram Posted February 11, 2006 Report Posted February 11, 2006 I run a +4 on my 4mill. Cub. If you want a dune bike with a little drag racing a +4 is great. If you jump alot and ar not so much into the drag racing I would say use a +2, but you will ave problems keeping the front end down in all the gears. Nathan Quote
Ducman Posted February 13, 2006 Report Posted February 13, 2006 + 4 will work good in the dunes. If you go more than +2 in the dirt you spin the tires real bad and its hard to get the front end up on a surface like a dirt road. If your in softer material with good tires a +4 will work in the dirt, but I would say you will want from +2" to +4". Quote
lowriderb Posted February 13, 2006 Report Posted February 13, 2006 mainly drag racing ive been running a +10 on my stock cylinder 4mm and i will keep the same swinger for the cub motor im building, i mainly drag out in the riding areas where we ride, and need it.. the bike will stand up if i dont lean forward as well.. im also running 22x11x8 12 paddle's so im sure your probably going to run less tire.. eehsnab2 Posted February 13, 2006 Report Posted February 13, 2006 if you plan on doing any drag racing your going to need a least a +8. When I launch out the hole with my 8 it still stands up in a wheelie. Quote
Bansheeduner02 Posted February 14, 2006 Author Report Posted February 14, 2006 hmm what about a stock cylinder 4mm stroker? about a 403cc bike im thinking +2 at the most. Quote
BigRed350x Posted February 14, 2006 Report Posted February 14, 2006 I'm only going to be running a +4 with 4mm cub. Thinking 22" 9 paddle for sand and 22" Razr's for dirt. I like to wheelie, so if it does like to pull the front end up that doesn't bother me. i don't drag race much at all so I don't really worry about it too much. Quote
Leadfoot350 Posted February 14, 2006 Report Posted February 14, 2006 I have a +6 with a ported cylinder stock stroke. While duning the front end wants to come up and I weigh 230. With a 4mm cub your going to need a +8 swing arm or longer. Quote
Wallrat Posted February 14, 2006 Report Posted February 14, 2006 hmm what about a stock cylinder 4mm stroker? about a 403cc bike im thinking +2 at the most. 473245[/snapback] Well stock won't work, I can vouch for that. +2 is where I'm heading. Quote
lowriderb Posted February 14, 2006 Report Posted February 14, 2006 with the stock cylinders on a .040 over bore its a 385cc motor.. if your going to run a +2 swing arm with that motor you better be prepared to look into the sun all day long.. Quote
bigboybanshee Posted February 14, 2006 Report Posted February 14, 2006 With a drag ported stock stroke 350 and a +8 swinger, I'm pulling wheelies off the line in dirt. I'd highly recommend at least a +4 swingarm unless you like riding the back wheels all the time Quote
trex banshee Posted February 14, 2006 Report Posted February 14, 2006 damn Travis i didn't know your bike was still a 350. your engine must be one of the ones Andy was telling me about. Anyways on the swingarm topic i got a +4 with my stock stroke motor and the only place i can get it to stand up is in the sand. I think my gearing has a big factor though.(17/41) but for this year its going to be bored to 68.5mm and a 4mill and a drag port with 13/42 gearing for the dirt, hopefully i won't need a longer swinger.
