sarider Posted January 28, 2006 Report Posted January 28, 2006 Hey just rebult the banshee. It starts easy(2-3 kicks) but it revs to the moon at idle. Throttle cable isnt pinched, and adjusting the idle on the carbs doesnt really make a difference. Any ideas of what the problem could be? Thanks in advance for the help. Quote
smkmupbanshee Posted January 28, 2006 Report Posted January 28, 2006 maybe a air leak at the gasket or intake. Quote
crazywheelerman365 Posted January 28, 2006 Report Posted January 28, 2006 Are your slides insink ? Did you check to make sure there clean and free of debree? Quote
sarider Posted January 28, 2006 Author Report Posted January 28, 2006 I cleaned the carbs out, and that didnt help. The slides are in sync. Ill check the intakes for an airleak. Quote
sarider Posted January 28, 2006 Author Report Posted January 28, 2006 intakes seem fine, took them off cleaned them, put alittle bit of gasket sealant to be sure and tightened them up. Same problem Quote
sarider Posted January 28, 2006 Author Report Posted January 28, 2006 (edited) Found a crack in the intake boot, replaced it with a new one, put everything back together and same problem. Any other ideas on why it would be revving so high? Thanks Edited January 28, 2006 by sarider Quote
scotts96fast Posted January 28, 2006 Report Posted January 28, 2006 To rule out a airleak I would pruessure test the motor to be 100% sure.... Did you make ANY changes when you rebuilt the motor? Quote
sarider Posted January 28, 2006 Author Report Posted January 28, 2006 New crank, top end, and degree key were the only differences. How do i do a pressure test? Quote

How do i do a pressure test? 465634[/snapback] To check for air leaks you should pruessure test your engine.I do after any rebuild and durning the off season.I spent $20 at a hardware store for all the parts.I use the air compressor in the garage. If you don't have one you can use a vaccum gage. All you need is to plug your exhaust and one intake with rubber plugs. And get some PVC and mod a fitting into it for compressed air or vaccum on the other intake. Bansheeduner02 Posted January 29, 2006 Report Posted January 29, 2006 alright i had that same problem with my bike. your carb slides are in backwards there is a little groove on one side which should point towards the cylinders and the longer flat side towards the filters. and that should be it Quote

I believe he checked this already, but it could be the case. If I understand the way you're explaining right, the way you are suggesting to install them would be backwards. Quote
