If the carbs are stock then they are 26's. What is your elevation where you/your mate ride? When you said twin air filter, what do you mean?

If you don't ride in any mud or water, then I would ditch the airbox lid at least, or have him switch to two pod filters mounted directly to the carbs. If you do ride in some nasty conditions, cut 1.5 inches off the back of the airbox lid and you'll be able to gain more air, and protect the filter from "most" of the elements

At sea level, he should run 300 mains, needle in the 5th clip, stock pilots...this is w/ a single K&N w/ the modified air box lid...stock carbs are 26's..any larger and he'll be losing hp..

5 degrees C or F????The jetting I suggested is for 50-70 degrees F....If your at 5 degrees F, then you'll need some 340's...and a 27.5 pilot.

I'm sure he is talking about 5 degrees C, based on his elevation being at 300m. We're about the only country left that still uses degrees F, and ft to measure elevation. So if my math is right he is about 41 degrees F. And have to agree, unless somebody has swapped those carbs, he should have 26's.

edit: Oh yeah and about 1000' elevation more or less.
