CadillacBanshee Posted December 5, 2005 Report Posted December 5, 2005 Ok, i got my bike adjusted to be able to take off in second gear now. I needed to open up the air screw to get more torque out of it. Now my question is, how do i get more traction at the take off or even during the race? The guys I race tell me theres a trick to taking off and keeping the good traction, is there? My bike is extended 10 inches, should i keep my weight on the back tires or all the way to the front? Also, how do i know when my tires are getting too much spin? Quote
ozosborne Posted December 5, 2005 Report Posted December 5, 2005 Good question! I'm quite keen to see the answers as well. Dragged a bit this week end, it was good fun, but I'm still running stock tyres, so there's hardly any grip. Quote
banshee tuner Posted December 5, 2005 Report Posted December 5, 2005 You have way to much extension on your swing arm which puts less weight on your rear tires. I would suggest getting a +4 swingarm at the most for your mods. Quote
locogato11283 Posted December 5, 2005 Report Posted December 5, 2005 what kinda motor do u have to warrant a +10 swinger? what kinda tires? a bone stock motor with stock pipes should be able to turn tires in 2nd gear with a 10 over swinger on.. Quote
blueshee03 Posted December 5, 2005 Report Posted December 5, 2005 first off the +10 is probally to much.how much you weigh? i weigh 175 pds run a +4 .your weight is probally the biggest factor when choosing swingarm length.when i launch i set back on the seat bring it up on the wheelie bar and keep it there till it drops unless it gets a little to wild.lol.when i ran without a bar i ran a stock arm and would set almost on tank to let it spin and when it started spinning i would slide my weight back till i got the traction i needed.takes practice. race-a-holic Posted December 6, 2005 Report Posted December 6, 2005 I agree that the +10 is probably too much swingarm.Tire selection is also extremely important too. What type of tracks are you racing on? Quote
smkmupbanshee Posted December 6, 2005 Report Posted December 6, 2005 WOW A +10? I RUN A STOCK SWINGARM ON MY TRAIL BIKE THAT HAS A TRAIL/DUNE PORT, WITH FMF SST'S. DITCH THAT SWINGARM FOR A +4 AT THE MOST. UNLESS YOU HAVE MODS THAT ARENT LISTED? Quote
CadillacBanshee Posted December 6, 2005 Author Report Posted December 6, 2005 I'm just getting ready for a port and higher compression. The tires are scat tracs 8 paddle and i move them pretty easy. Quote
sandbanshee32 Posted December 10, 2005 Report Posted December 10, 2005 yea 10s to much need to go to a +8, and go with a set of 10 paddle haulers for a 350 ported motor Quote
