slimeball Posted October 25, 2005 Report Posted October 25, 2005 I just bought a bansshee off of ebay. I have been riding it up and down the street with no problems and no where to ride. Soon I found out that there were miles of trails to ride near by so i started pushing my banshee. These last 2 weeks have been real rainy. So let me mention that I do not have an air box. i am assuming that maybe a little moisture has gotten into my carb and that has caused it to speed up and stick when i accelerate. Has anyone else had this problem? Now i am guessing this is what is happening after I have researched and asked questions. i know nothing about bikes or fixing them so yoru guess is as good as mine unless you know what you are talking about so if someone can help me before i go and trust the shop that is most likely going to make something up to rip me off. Please help. Quote
race-a-holic Posted October 25, 2005 Report Posted October 25, 2005 WAIT,WAIT,WAIT!!!!!!!Don't take it to a shop.Unless it's someone you know, you're fixing to spend a bus load of money for nothing.Mine use to act up some when it got wet.Doesn't seem too bad now.Without an airbox, busting water holes is not a good idea.If you ride in water,I'd suggest going back to an airbox. If it starts doing it when it's dry,let me know.Might have a few more things to look at that might be causing your problems. fast87 Posted October 26, 2005 Report Posted October 26, 2005 put a thin coat of grease on your carb slides, unscrew the tops and pull em out, just make sure when they go back in that your carb is closed almost all the way, it is possiblew to put the slide in wrong and you'll be stuck wide open...twist it till it falls down in ~Mark~ Quote
i12gofast Posted October 26, 2005 Report Posted October 26, 2005 Squirt a little WD-40 down into where the throttle cables enter the carb tops. The WD-40 will dissipate the moisture. Rack your throttle open and closed a few times, with the bike OFF. Start it up, let it get warm , rack the throttle a few more time in NEUTRAL, you shouuldnt see any more sticking. I go through this every day its raining... Quote

ROB Posted January 10, 2006 Report Posted January 10, 2006 How new is the quad? I Purchased a new 2005 about 6 months ago.. I had removed the TORS, Re-Jetted, T-6's, K&N (still have airbox)..etc... Silconed the throttle cables at the point of entry to the carbs to keep out moisture...Still stuck wide open, until I feathered the throttle... It was really starting to piss me off... Until a riding buddy, had similar problems, he took his slides out.. There is a black coating on the slides (not on older models). Took a fine grit sand paper and sanded the black off until it was bare metal. Did not stick after that... I did the same. Rode this past weekend.. First time I had ridden it (through mud & water) with the slides sanded... Needless to say, they did not stick once!! Quote
